Newborn and ringsling - what position should baby be in?

DD2 is 2 weeks old and I would like to use my ring sling with her. But I haven't used a RS before and don't know which is the best position to put her in. Should I put her in with her head next to the rings or the other way around, or have her straight up?

Also, how long will it take to get used to it? I've given it a few tries but she seems to be squashed and I take her out soon after.
Thanks for any advice.

I prefer an upright tummy to tummy position with a newborn - it's easier to check that their airways are clear, chin is well off their chest etc. I would put her feet up inside the sling. This video might help

Thanks so much pootlebug. The video is very helpful and hopefully with a bit more practice, I'll get the hang of it.
