Does anyone have a Didy tai or a Wallabie wrap tai?

I need quite fancy a soft tie sling (I have an ergo already which I love).

I was set on the Didy tai but I did read somewhere that they are not that 'deep' so not so good for a hefty toddler. The Wallabie looks lovely but comes in 3 sizes! Ideally I could do with one that can carry my 5mo and on occasions my 2 year old.

Has anyone got any tips or advice? I'm wondering about buying the Wallabie in a size 1-3 years and making do for 6 months....

I haven't tried either, I'm afraid, although I've tried various other wrap conversions.

Just to confuse you further, you could also look at Ocah (custom-made to order, but 2nd hand ones come up on NaturalMamas for sale boards) Bamberoo (as for Ocah, custom-made to order in both the US and Hungary www.bamberoo.hu), Hoppediz's Hop Tye, Opitai (also custom-made to order), Kimimela, Melkaj.

DidyTai and Hop Tye don't have padded waists - all the others I mentioned do (as do the Wallabie). A padded waist makes for a more supportive carry....less of a big deal with a 5 month old, much more of a big deal with a two year old.

On some wrap conversions it is feasible to roll the waistband to make it more suitable for a smaller child. I'm not sure about the Wallabie as I've never had one, but if you ask on Natural Mamas forum I'm sure you'd find someone with experience of using one.

Can you get to a sling meet to try some out?

Thank you for the list of websites pootlebug, there are some lovely slings there, the Ocah site had something very similar to a wompat/wallabie so that is an option.

I definitely think I'd miss the padded waist band, I take if for granted with the ergo obviously.

There also seems to be a new sling meet a few miles away from me (found on NM's...) I'm going to try and get to the next one.
