I know what I want from a sling but dont know which one?

Hi, am 34 weeks with DC3 and although I've used a baby bjorn before I dont want to use it again and would prefer a material sling.

One of the things I would like to use it for is the school run, as then I wont have to lug a buggy out the boot or carry a car seat. So, ideally I'd like something I can put on at home and then put the baby in it when I'm parked up near the school (other DC are small so still have to wait at school for drop off and want hands free for hand holding etc).

Is there such a thing or do you have to put on material slings with the baby in them at the same time?

A moby is just the sling you want - with the stretchy wraps you pretie them, and can then just pop the baby in and out as you please

Do you mean a sling made of a long piece of fabric? If so, yes, in fact it's recommended that you put them on before you travel - it avoids ends trailing in puddles as you try to put it on, or setting the car horn off with your elbow.

The Kari-me is good, and other posters can probably recommended other good ones.

I went from my old Baby Bjorn - not comfy for me and baby was hanging by their crotch - to a Beco Butterfly. It's structured like the Bjorn but much better designed and comfier for me and the baby. Quick to put on and quick to get off too. I'm using it for DD2 (baby no. 3) exactly as you describe.

I can recommend slings by Peanut Shell. It has been my lifesaver with DC3.

It is a thick piece of fabric that is worn across the body, and you can adjust the sling/baby, so that either baby is lying quite horizontally, or more upright as they grow and get bigger.

RRP £40, but I got one in perfect condition for £2 from the well known auction site. Best £2 ever spent! :o

stretchy ones are perfect for little babies - then depending on your baby (had to change mine when ds was 7 months) I moved onto a mei tei .. .same type of thing but not stretchy so no kamikaze moments from fidget arse older babies - saying that I do still use the moby occasionally now :)

You could leave pretty much any buckle carrier tied around your waist as you drive, then pop baby in and clip shoulder straps on.

That said, stretchy wraps are great for popping in and out too [hsmile]
