SW Social team running group

My Consultant has been on holiday and the social team have been running ther group in her abscence. I was under the impression this was against the rules but according to head office it isn't. The last 2 weeks groups have been almost pointless. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Also she hasn't changed the group format and we still go around the room clapping weight losses etc.

Do you mean just weigh and go or are they running the rest of the session?

They ran the whole session. Including going round the room calling out weight losses etc. with the usual clapping.

I’ve never heard of this happening, unless one of the social team is actually a SW Consultant?
Groups are always covered by a replacement Consultant for holidays and absences.

Sounds odd. Xx

I spoke to head office for advice anonymously and apparently it is acceptable for the social team to step in and run the group including the discussion etc.

My main concern is that she hasn't moved to the new method of running the group and we still go around the room clapping etc. I know it's worked for a long time but it's outdated now. On the first week of one of the social team who's been a member for years and years ran the group. She was having alot of banter with the group and telling people they "should have done better" everyone seemed to take it lightly but I don't feel like it's the standard that would be expected.

That sounds like really poor advice from SW head office.
They say that they take great care in recruiting consultants and that their training is in depth, covering the psychology of weight loss as well as the SW plan.
So how can it be okay for some random member who helps out with weighing be allowed to actually run the group??
I suspect there’s a financial issue here and the regular consultant doesn’t want to share income with a replacement consultant.
