Coming back to SW when perimenopausal

I’ve recently restarted SW. I originally did it in 2017 and lost about 4 st easily and steadily in just over a year. I regained starting during COVID and steadily since then. I was 42 then so obviously 51 now. I can’t get over how slow my progress has been compared to last time. It’s torturously slow. I’ve only lost 4.5lb in 4 weeks which is pathetic. I’m sticking to plan and have upped my exercise. I intend to start running again once I’ve lost 2 stone. I’ve consistently lost every week so far which I suppose is good but I am acutely aware that a bad week could wipe out these hard gotten losses. . Has anyone had a similar experience? Is this just the way it going to be now when you are perimenopausal. I’m going to change back to the “old” plan with only 2 hexes and see if that makes any difference. Should I half my swips too?

I'm the same age and have lost 9lb in 2 months. I'm happy with that TBH as I haven't lost anything on anything else I've tried. Sustainable weight loss is 1-2lb a week, so I would say you're doing fine. Fast off, fast on, then slow off once you hit menopause in my experience so it's better to go slow and steady. I'm doing the new plan as designed but trying to stick to 10 swips. I had a terrible week last week and still lost 1/2 lb. I do do a lot of exercise too (3 x swimming, 3x various classes plus walking every day). I was doing that before but wasn't losing any weight at all.

Thanks for that. It’s given me
a bit of perspective. I’ve also not been able to
lose by other methods so maybe I should be happy with that. I’ve also had a couple of big events where I wasn’t too careful on the day. I’m not finding it hard to stick to so I’ll just keep going.

I know 4.5 pounds in 4 weeks doesn't sound a lot, but if you sustain that for the next 48 weeks you will again have lost just over 4 stone in a year!

Thanks for your encouragement. This is better than group!

I am hoping to give it a go as well this week. I am also perimenopausal age and have to do it this time. 3 stone I would like to lose as I carry all my weight on my belly.

Good luck. I’m just about to go to group and I’m not expecting a good loss. I’ve had an ok week, but I feel heavy. Please let me know how you get on in the next few weeks.

2lb off which I was very happy about.
how has everyone else done this week?

That's great! I weigh tomorrow. I'm at target now and although I had a very off-plan weekend I should still be in range. We shall see!
