Breakfasts - low or no syn

What are your favourite breakfasts on SW? Preferably low or no syn.

I like a veggie omelette but usully use quite a bit of olive oil to cook it, need to find alternatives! Or a better way to cook it.

I'm not keen in LF Cottage Cheese unless it's well disguised. Oats for some reason make me hungry. Apart from that I will eat most things.

I would go with 4 poached egg and 2 brown toast for breakfast. Your eggs are free and you can have 1 of the toast as your B choice. I lost 4.5 stone in 9 months and I am convinced 4 eggs every day was the lynch pin to my success.
The oats make you hungry because they are carbs, which your body is quickly burning as fuel then sending you signals to eat more food as it has run out of fuel (I presume they are instant oat and not overnight oats). As for the olive oil just syn it but use it, the health benefits of olive out weigh any syn value SW put on it.

Baked oats
2 boiled eggs with protein bagel
weetabix cheesecake
fat free Greek yoghurt with berries

Weirdly oats make me hungry too but overnight ones don't!

Aldi red onion veggie sausages and poached eggs.

It's because overnight oats are slow release carbs, instant oats are refined carbs and spike your blood sugar.

Buy a new frying pan just for eggs and you won't need any oil. If you do need oil, decant some olive oil into a spray bottle and use that
( I actually do have a frying pan just for eggs )

Overnight oats with berries made with my extra thick homemade greek yoghurt

A wholemeal pitta ( HEB ) stuffed full of bacon, tomatoes, rocket and any other salad veg I can squeeze in . Sometimes I stuff with scrambled eggs or even an omelette

If you have a lidl near by and you like cottage cheese, their high protein ( which is actually lower then their normal ) cottage cheese is syn free and its good and thick and creamy

Cottage cheese ( see above ) on German dark rye (HEB ) with a tin of mackeral in chilli tomato sauce ( yeah Im weird but its protein )

Poached eggs and kippers

If you want to use bread as your HEB, choose wholemeal pitta ( 1) or if you want a sandwich, Tesco's Neville brand is two slices and they are full slices

It's because overnight oats are slow release carbs, instant oats are refined carbs and spike your blood sugar.

But if both made with porridge oats, how do they transform into slow release? You can serve “fresh oats” with the same fruit etc. Unless you are making fresh porridge with ready brek? I’ve read that porridge spikes your blood sugar.

Oats make me hungry too, which makes sense as it's carbs not protein.

I'd just have eggs and as little butter/oil as I could get away with and use a good non stick pan. SW isn't a magic spell so doesn't have to be followed 100% to limit calories and hence lead to weight loss. Rather limit the overt sugary processed rubbish, don't stuff yourself then you have flexibility to eat good non processed food like olive oil and full fat LF cottage cheese which is food of the Gods, rather than something to be tolerated.

BirdSanctuary · 15/07/2025 07:38

I use frylight for omelettes - there is a buttery one. Guilt & syn free.
Also eat poached eggs a lot using a cheap Lidl microwave gadget.
@Slawit I agree - eggs are the answer. Well done on your phenomenal weight loss!
Good luck @Venismer and to all for eggscellent weight losses!

I have 4 breakfast meals on rotation.

Overnight oats - cinnamon, lots of fruit including frozen berries, milk, FF yogurt and maple syrup. B choice and 0.5 syns. Not my favourite so tend to keep for the odd time I'm on the road.

1 weetabix (0.5 of my B choice as I save the other half for a hifi bar) and fruit - blueberries, pear, strawberries, banana melon whatever I've got in. Milk from A choice and teaspoon of maple syrup 0.5 syns.

2 poached eggs on wholemeal toast (0.5 B choice as above) with wilted spinach fried in spray oil

For a post workout protein hit I go Full English: 2 Linda McCartney red onion sausages, 2 eggs, mushrooms and onions plus 1 piece toast

Fricklefrack · 14/11/2025 11:34

I quite often have a 0% Greek yoghurt with fruit. If I want it change it up I use myprotein flavour drops. Or I have a bowl of baked beans with a couple poached eggs and bacon medallions on top.
