I’ve decided to try the slimming world diet today however can’t afford the app right now I’m making a meal tomorrow that should last a family of 3 two days and I don’t know how to calculate the syns or even how many syns there are it’s seafood chowder i contains sauted carrots, potatoes and leeks (usually celery but they didn’t have any left) with a jug of water added with 2 knorr fish stocks then 2 packs of the Asda fish pie mix which is smoked haddock salmon and cod and maybe quarter to half a 300ml thing of Asda double cream added (that’s the part I’m very confused over) I’m not using any oil to sauté the veg btw

100ml of cream is 22 1/2 syns, so 300ml is 67.5

Everything else is free

Or 4 1/2 days syns allowance in 1 go. (But presumably you don't plan to eat it all in 1 go? How many does it serve?)

I don't eat fish so it might not work, but could you swap the cream for cottage cheese/something else?

Oh, I've just seen, 6 portions. So that's 11 1/2 per serving

I think it’s only going to be just a dash of cream now that I know how much syns!!! Thank you @User478 i make enough to feed me and my husband and daughter for 2 days but there are always leftovers in the pot maybe 1-2 average sized tuppaware boxes of leftovers I’d guess

I really need to work on my reading comprehension!

1/2 of 300ml is 150ml, so half those syns

5 1/2 per portion. That's not so bad...

I don't think this has made it any easier to understand has it?! 🤣

On the app, if you click on ‘Planner’ (bottom middle of the screen) then click + , then click on ‘“food search”, you’ll see a search window at the top of the screen with a barcode next to it. If you click on the barcode you can scan the barcode on your food (or in this case, the cream) and it will tell you how many syns there are per portion or per 100mls or whatever.

I followed slimming world for years a while ago and it was the only plan I ever managed to stick to successfully. I now need to lose a bit of weight again and want to follow slimming world again. I never officially joined last time and I just done it successfully at home and was in a few helpful ideas and syns groups (vegetarian) but they aren’t active anymore. It’s been about 3.5 years since I was fully following SW is there anything specific that has changed over the last few years? How do you work out syns if following at home? And is there a list of hexa/hexb anywhere I could find? Is there a syns calculator anywhere or do you have to join group for this? I
