Slimming World

Scared at the amount I have to lose

rainydaysandcake · 08/01/2023 21:20

I have yo yo ed mainly up over the last 10 years.

2016 i took up c25k and with Sw lost loads of weight, felt amazing was down to 10.5 st

Weighed myself today and I'm up to 17st 4

I know I have had a really bad year and felt quite stressed, peri menopause etc but I was shocked / horrified at my weight again.

I feel disgusted with my self for getting this bad and being in denial.

So tomorrow I'm starting again Sw online,

Im setting myself a target of 2 stone in 12 weeks by Easter by sticking to Sw. And doing at least 3 x 45 excercise classes a week.

Any one with a big weight loss want to be my buddy ?

I have a similar amount to lose. How do you find slimming world?

Why dont you set yourself food targets rather than weight. If you dont lose that weight the way you want to, you'll become depressed and eat more

Why not set a target for 7 fruit and veg a day
Your exercise classes a week
So many grams of fat or protein a day (whichever suits, or something similar)
Attendance at the classes every week

I have found sliming world great and really adaptable. Helped me reduce 'bad carbs' like biscuits and crap.

But find with a ft job, and 4 children I need to be ultra organised

I really can't cope with measuring food.

But my real targets are usually clothes I want to get into

Don't be scared. That time will pass anyway so you can look at it like you'll either be that bit closer to your goal or you stay the same as you are now. I'm 6st down now with many more to go and it was an overwhelming prospect at first. Now I'm 10 months in and I'm so glad I started because I can look back and see months of progress and I know I have the strength to continue.

I'm in a very similar boat.

I've had a dry run last week (crap weekend) starting properly tomorrow.

I'm even more stupid, as I have horrendous acid reflux which disappears instantly if I stick to SW. The last 3 years I've been single handedly propping up gaviscon. -Why?!

Today is the day!

Official weigh in at 17st 3

Had SW breakfast of eggs and ham and black coffee.

1lb gone already! Excellent!

I have a new food diary so I'm busy filling in all the important procrastination parts.

Hiya Rainy
I started SW on Monday, I am going to meetings as I hear you are much more likely to succeed if you do. I wanted to do it online and continue hiding away but this is it, I'm going to be successful this time.

You sound really busy, I'm just talking about myself here. I think having a buddy and being accountable to someone is key.

I weighed in at 18 stone. I feel disgusted with myself but I've only got myself to blame.

I'm writing down what I have for each meal. Will you post here what you're eating? Or we can pm each other, I'd love that

I'm 5ft 10 so my target is 12 stone which takes me to a 12\14. So I've 6 to lose. I felt good reading the pp say its taken ten months to lose 6 stone. I am picturing myself at Christmas being happy with my size.

X

You sound like you've got a good plan in place that you feel positive about. Keep reminding yourself of that feeling you'll have at Xmas, it helps to keep you motivated 😊

I also wanted to add I started off at a about...8 stone heavier than you are now so it did come off quickly. Don't be disheartened if you find it slower. I still have another 6 to go and I fully expect that this 6 will take me longer than the first 6!
Hopefully we can keep each other company and stay focused together!

Hi Slash, great, accountability is do important I think. So we can have it here. I only just checked this board to see if I had a reply, how do I get notifications? I've been on MN for 15 years but mainly just read these days so can't remember.

I've stuck to the plan all week and (can't believe I'm saying this) am really looking fwd to the weigh in tomorrow morning. It's a real test to see how good SW is as I've followed it to the letter.
Warning: I made chicken tikka last night, it was such an effort and took ages and not really worth it

I’be just weighed in at just under 16 stone, which as I’m 5ft 1 is about 7 stone too heavy for my frame. I’m desperate for a buddy to be accountable. I have 3 kids (no job currently as I’m home with the almost-2 year old)
the older 2 girls are super fussy and have different meals (annoyingly separate to each other) but dh will eat anything and ds (toddler) anything that isn’t spicy. 5pm time is at a premium so quick, easy and healthy is my go to.

I have a holiday booked in April and July so I’ve broken down my weight loss into ½ stone chunks. It’s going to take over a year to get to my final goal, but that’s fine for me. I’m hoping for at least ½ stone per month- attainable and manageable I think!

I don't know if it will be helpful/reassuring for anyone but I thought I'd share my general weightloss trend this past year. I find it helpful to see that even though I've had periods of gaining or staying the same, it has been a good downward trajectory and it encourages me to keep going 😊 I've cropped my exact weight because I'm still embarrassed 🙈

I have just under 7 stone to lose. I have tried SW but didn’t like all the fat free, sugar free food. As a family we are doing a more high fat, low carb diet mostly using Michael Mosley’s cookbooks which are amazing. The recipes are easily adaptable to families.

I just joined class this morning, I'm 9 weeks post partum with my second baby and weighed in at 18st 13lb. I've got about 7 stone to lose but set my first target at 16st. It feels daunting but also as others have said, the time will pass anyway so I might as well get on with it and any 1lb lost is a win.

i read somewhere that if you lose ‘just’ 1lb per week that’s 52lb in a year… that’s almost 4stone!! Crazy when it starts adding up. I’ve joined online- got the silver membership so I could get some new books

Good afternoon,
i rejoined SW last autumn for the millionth time, ducked around lost 8.5lb then stopped going in December and went back after Christmas with an 8lb gain 🫣
so I’m starting again, January is always tough as it’s my birthday and my youngest a middle of the month. So that is done now. 2lb loss last week, next weigh in tomorrow.

i started this year at 16st 11.5 and I’m 5ft 7. Really I want to lose 6stone but realistically I know that’s soooo unlikely. 4 stone would be utterly amazing.
ive started the gym again so trying to do that three times a week, mix up with gym, swimming and eventually classes once I’ve regained some level of fitness.

I want to feel better, look better, be fitter and healthier but my biggest thing is I want to have a third baby. Have been ttc since October 2021 and it’s not happening. Age? Weight? Who knows what’s going on but I do know losing weight will help and will give me a healthier pregnancy

Yes I do feel enthused Smile I get extra allowances for breastfeeding plus extra syns as I'm so heavy, and I thought I'll never lose weight eating all that! So I thought right I'll test it to the max and eat it all and see what happens - was stunned to have lost 4.5lb!! Hope everyone else is getting on ok!

Hi, I lost four stone around four years ago and I’ve rejoined this morning as I’ve regained it all through not practising decent self care. I really need to get back into sticking to plan and attending classes. It’s going to be tough but I’m fed up of feeling exhausted and uncomfortable all the time.
Feeling optimistic for the first time in several years that I’m going to get back to target 😀

Well I’ve lost six pounds this morning —which I’ve very pleased with 😀
