How much money do consultants make?

I know that it can cost thousands to set up as a consultant but how much in say an average year would they make? Do they tend to stay consultants for several years and making a good return on investment?

My guess would be that unless they're very organised and strict with time management, they probably make very little on an hourly basis. I think for most it's probably a lifestyle business.

Some have lots of groups and may make it pay (especially back to back sessions) if their business savvy and organised and don't let it take over their lives, but even then I doubt they're racking it in. I think SW probably makes most of its profit on books and food these days, I suspect consultants make most of their profit on bars, books and magazines.

They do events for prospective consultants where they tell you all about it.

They're 🤭

It is like 50p out of the £6 charge or more?

Wilma55 · 21/11/2022 20:11

I think they pay half of the hall hire and keep half of the takings.

SoapMactavish · 21/11/2022 20:14

My old consultant got sacked for being on the take.

So they probably don't make a lot.

Definitely not enough to have to put up with Sandra being unable to understand why she didn't lose weight every week when she spent every night in the kebab house.

So 100 losers paying £6 would be £600 and you'd get half so £300

That's not bad?

spurs4ever · 03/12/2022 12:43

It depends on how large the group are and how many new member they get when they launch a group. 25 new members or more and they get 50% of the takings. Less than that and it's on a sliding scale. They also have to pay for room hire which when I did it was £80 a week x

Fuck all, my friend did it for a couple of years and made next to nothing. She kept plugging away at it hoping it would start to turn a profit but ended up leaving feeling used and demoralised.
