What do you use your syns on?

You get 5-15 per day, do you tend to use them all every day?

Do you tend to have 105 per week or do you end up over or under?

Do you try to catch up if you go over say on a weekend or do you start again? (With 5-15 the next day)

What do you tend to use your syns on?

on most days:

2 x 75cal Skinny bars (6 syns total)
meringue nest (2.5)
low fat yoghurts (0.5, usually more than 1!)
some lighter than light Mayo or 70% reduced fat salad cream

Then the remainder from:
at the moment, ice lollies or no sugar ice pops
sometimes some packet flavoured rice or the cheesy dried pasta packets that are about 2.5 syns
Low sugar hot choc, I like the Galaxy one
something to give some flavour to cooked chicken, maybe some Crucials BBQ sauce or a Maggi's herby flavour sheet
I usually use all my healthy extra on cheese! So splashes of skimmed milk in tea (don’t ever have more than one a day)
if I’m having a drink out and it comes with a mini shortbread or little biscoff one of them
sorbet

can’t really think of much else

Have lost nearly 90lbs in 13 months

Sugar in tea
spray oil
proper full fat yoghurts
the occasional biscuit
light coconut milk
bisto
sausages
hash browns
bagel thins
those tesco pork patties

It sounds horrendous but I use most of the ones I have on alcohol. I weigh in on a sat, and give myself 70 to 80 syns, then if I'm having a takeaway or a drink or going out I count how many I use to ensure I dont go over.
The rest of the week I eat completely syn free, unless I use a couple here and there for the steam bags of rice. Or a small amount of avacado.
This week the only food related syns I used were 5 on gravy as really fancied a comfort dinner are getting soaked on a walk, and 3 I think on a hi far bar as needed a sweet fix but had used my heb.
I dont want to eat a treat every day and I dont want unhealthy foods to make up part of my meals. For me to maintain this I prefer to be super strict week days and have a treat on a saturday or sunday. That way this has become part of my life not just a diet but I dont feel I'm missing out at the weekend.

I try to have zero syns in the day and save them for a chocolate bar in the evening once the kids are in bed

Slimemonster · 01/05/2023 08:40

During the day I use a few on butter and light mayo, by the evening I might have some chocolate too. I always stay below the 15 per day, ideally I like to stay below 10 syns per day too. I don't share the syns out over a week.

Bobbliest · 16/05/2023 23:18

Chocolate. Lindt dark chocolate with a hint of whatever is 2.5 syns per square. Have 6 squares one night and four following night. Well worth it.

I’ve been using between 10 and 15 most days. Occasionally only 5 or 6. I use them for things like tortillas, different bread to my HEb , hifi bars if I’ve already used my HEb or for wine on a weekend. If I go over at the weekend I’ve been putting the extras on future days the next week to even it out but I haven’t been doing the plan long. So far that is working for me. I’m doing online so I just scroll ahead on the app and out my extra syns down for the next day and / or another day the following week. I wouldn’t want to do this too often but with the recent bank hols it was a help.

Kidsarenotalright · 01/06/2023 11:56

Is it ok to bank your syns for the weekend actually? I average around 1.5 syns a day (usually honey or ketchup or mayo) could I use my banked syns for a chocolate bar at the weekend?

Bobbliest · 01/06/2023 20:48

I don’t think you are supposed to. They encourage you to use your syns every day. I guess it removes the sense of deprivation. Eating around 100 syns in one go or even over 2 days would be counter-intuitive. You’ve potentially undone all the good from the other 5 days.

They say not to but my consultant says it is allowed. I've done it for all day gin 🤣 but absolutely straight back on it the next day and still lost that week.

No apparently you can when you're in target. I use mine for snack a jacks and biscuits

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 25/06/2023 11:08

I use mine on small portion of nuts in my yoghurt, 4 syns. Always have a funsizer milky way before bed, 3.5 syns. I might have a keffir yoghurt, which can be about 4 syns. Kimchi, about 1 syn, depending on how much. Occasionally I will meet a friend, who enjoys a cake. I have a muffin thing, and have this week kept to 10 syns to allow for it.

SW talk about flexible syns, which I assume are a more flexible approach to having syns saved or in overdraft, haven't seen a comprehensive explanation.
Figure that if I'm going to have something very synny, then I'm better thinking in banking savings/overdraft than saying 'sod it'. My life needs me to have something like cake every now and then, otherwise I would feel really deprived.
