My second weigh in today and I’ve lost half a lb! I have five stone to lose.
I’ve stuck to it completely and really expected a good loss. My first weigh in I lost 4.5lb
I go with my friend and all she has done is bang on about how she’s not been following it right. She’s had two meals out off plan, a cake in a cafe and she’s went over her syns multiple times and she lost 2lb.
I know I sound bitter and horrible but I regret signing up with her because I had to sit there whilst she was all gleaming and hyper and she patronisingly put her arm around me when really she was obviously glad I only lost half a lb. Hmm
I just don’t know where I’ve went wrong and I’m really disheartened.

Just keep at it. If your friend carries on the way she is, she'll eventually come unstuck. How much do you have to lose?

PlantDoctor · 06/10/2021 22:19

Have you eaten enough? Is your period coming up? Did you have a massive meal/lots to drink before weigh in? Are you wearing heavier winter clothes now that it's colder?

It sounds like you will see this week's results next week, whereas your slightly patronising friend will probably come unstuck, as pp says!

MilesOfSand · 07/10/2021 02:55

This is probably a case of ‘your loss is in the post’ and it will catch up with you on a good way in the next week or two. Probably the reverse for your ‘friend.’

bellabride · 07/10/2021 19:50

You've lost 5 pounds in 2 weeks: that's a great result.
Keep at it, and you will definitely see results on the scales: you'll probably have a good loss next week, just don't be disheartened.

Dozycuntlaters · 08/10/2021 13:52

Are you using the app? Logging down everything you eat. What's your portion sizes like? Not overloading on the free food? Could be many reasons but just stick to it, write everything down that you eat and keep plugging away.

PlantDoctor · 12/10/2021 17:47

Hope your weigh in goes well today @Sandybeachtowel!

CloseYourEyesAndSee · 12/10/2021 17:50

You haven't gone wrong, you've lost 5lb in 2 weeks.
In the first week you must have lost a fair bit of water weight as well as fat. Probably about 3lbs fat and 2lbs water. In the second week the water has rebalanced so you 'gained' that weight back and lost another 2lbs fat, so your scales show only 0.5lbs down. Weight loss isn't always linear. As long as the trend is downwards that's the important thing.

SylviaTrench · 26/10/2021 12:15

When you feel disheartened picture your friend’s gloating face, and let that spur you on.
5lb is a great loss, it’s nearly half a stone! Can you visualise ten packets of butter? that’s the amount of fat you’ve lost.

Perching · 26/10/2021 12:31

Just keep at it, your ‘whoosh’ will come. Google it it’s a thing x

Keep on sticking to the plan.

It works. Because essentially it follows the eat well plate.

Just make sure you do these key things;

1/3 speed on your plate.
Even if you've made a pasta bake full of veggies. Don't fall for that trap! Put 1/3 speed on your plate next to your speed filled pasta.
Eat to your appetite.
Listen to your tummy, are you hungry? Do you need two eggs, or is 1 fine for now? Are you having that piece of fruit after lunch because you're hungry, or because it's habit etc.

When you lose a significant amount if weight, eat less
Your body doesn't need as many calories when you weigh less. People think they can eat the same amount as when they were larger, bit it will stall the loss... See eat to your appetite above! :)

Not everybody seems to lose in the same way. I've done slimming classes in the past with a friend who seemed to lose the classic couple of pounds a week. I had some disappointing half pound loss weeks but seemed to lose the week after I'd had a 'good' week even if that week I had weakened and eaten crisps & chocolate 🍫😍. Eventually I found it more useful to look at fortnightly or even monthly losses (stopped weighing every week) and did in the end lose more than friend.

This is so true - it really annoys me on the FB SW groups when everyone goes on about their spaghetti bolognese that has 1/3 speed in it!
