Out of control Evening munchies!

Oh god help! I’m able to be ok during the day, but even if I eat large amounts of (allowed) good I ruin it at about 9pm in the evening with cravings for sugary snacks (oaty bars, Kit Kat’s etc) or cereal.
Why?!?
And how to combat this?

have some protein instead e.g. greek yogurt

Oldowl · 28/05/2021 18:24

Clean your teeth at 9pm (minty snacks don't taste as nice) or have an options hot chocolate (only 2 syns). You won't fancy a kitkat on top of hot chocolate.

You don't have to answer this question at all, but are you taking anti depressants? I ask because I am (amitriptyline), which I take around 7pm and by 9/9:30pm I'm at the fridge lol

Cyranosbestie · 28/05/2021 18:28

Meant to add, this doesn't happen if I haven't been taking them.

crimsonlake · 28/05/2021 18:29

My advice is go to bed, that is the only way :)

Akire · 28/05/2021 18:30

Don’t buy them in the first place is the only way.

AddisonMontgomeryShepherd · 28/05/2021 18:30

Agree with pp a hot chocolate tides me over if I feel like this. Although this week I can't stop eating Tesco's super sweet strawberries they are taking the sweet cravings away!

Sh05 · 28/05/2021 18:33

Brush your teeth or start chewing gum. I found slimming world works fine but I did feel as if I was always obsessing about what to eat next.

WitchDancer · 28/05/2021 18:35

I used to paint my nails so I couldn't snack. Either that or have an options hot chocolate or an options in a plain yogurt to satisfy those cravings

I don't follow SW so I'm not sure what these are in terms of syns but I was recommended the fruit crunch ryvita with currants as a replacement for biscuits. They are surprisingly nice with butter on and although they are 56 calories each (plus butter), I find I only want one or two whereas I would find it so much harder to stop if I started on Kit Kats etc.

Thanks everyone, will definitely try your tips! Flowers

I quite like the Ryvita Rye Cakes too, with some light Philadelphia on them.
