Feeling overwhelmed!

I set my goal to loose 5 1/2 stone.
I know this is a lot but I’m 19.7 stone size 20 (I’m tall 5,8)
I’ve checked my BMI and even after this I’m still going to be classed as very overweight weight.
To be a healthy BMI I’d need to loose 8 stone!!!

8 stone

I’m overwhelmed by the amount I’ve got to loose.

Is this do able on slimming world?
I feel like this is going to take years!

Yes it's doable. I lost 5 stone on SW. The first few will be relatively quick. Just keep to the plan :)

MyCatEatsPrawnCrackers · 03/05/2021 09:36

I lost 8.5 stone on SW. It took me 10 momths to lose 5 stone then another 10 months to lose the remaining 3.5 stone. This was back in the red/green era though.

Some of the people featured on the website have lost around 8 stone or more. www.slimmingworld.co.uk/real-life-stories

You can break your target down into smaller ones to make it seem less daunting. Good luck with it, I’ve lost a stone so far and feel so much better for it.

I weigh more than you and I’m a lot shorter Blush I’ve lost 2 stone in 3 months, I still have a long way to go obviously!

But I set my first target to just lose 10% of my body weight, because that’s a lot less overwhelming than 10 stone plus. When I hit that, I’ll target myself another 10% or so, and hopefully keep doing that til I get to a more reasonable size.

I went to a SW zoom event a while ago with a woman who lost 17 stone on SW in only 2 or 3 years! So it can be done. It’s just being able to stick to it long haul which is the hard part I think.

But even if you don’t manage to lose 8 stone, losing anything is better than not starting because it’s too overwhelming (I put off starting for a stupidly long time)

Loved the red plan. Or the beige as DH nicknamed some of my days. It's led me to the low carb plan I do now!

Best of luck. I agree with other posters. Break it down and set yourself smaller targets. I was overweight since I was a teen and I have been at target for over 6 years now. I go to group weekly and I have followed the classes on zoom over the past year. If I could do it, anyone can. I lost 4 stones (took me 11 months).

People do get good results and lose huge amounts of weight. Personally though I didn't like the diet and totally hated the meetings. But by all means give it a try.

I shouldn't focus too much on BMI.
