Is slimming world good?

Hi everyone,

I had a baby last March and gained two stone. The first stone shifted really fast but I'm really struggling with the last stone.

I'm doing home workout programme with hasfit and using a calorie counter app but I think I need more. I'm also breastfeeding.

So I'm thinking of slimming world. Anyone have any reviews for me? And how does it work? TIA

I didn’t like it. It’s got “syns” for “bad” food which made me feel guilty!

I liked it. I lost nearly 2 stone after my first baby and am back on the program after having my second with a similar amount to lose. I'm breastfeeding too.

I also don't like the "syns" language but I call it treats/ points to myself.

Good luck.

I loved it I lost 3 and half stone in 7 months. (Syns for bad food haha) this allows us to be on a healthy eating plan but have a treat. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to lose wait. Put some weight bk on during lockdown so will be rejoining as soon as it opens.

It's as good as any.

It's based on eating low fat food, lots of fruit and veg.

The term 'syns' is I think an unfortunate choice. Basically non 'free' food (which you can eat as much as you want) has a 'syn' value which is simply a way of grading the food. You're recommended to have no more than a certain amount of 'syns' per day which is simply a means of being aware of what you eat. The free foods are mainly vegetables and lean meat/fish.

They do have their own range of ready meals which as they've specified the contents and production feel are ok. There are other ready meals around. At least there's no calorie counting.

Does it work, for some yes but in this life no guarantees.

You could try calorie counting or WW.

I suspect they're all much of a muchness. If you have the willpower and control to stick to a diet it'll work if not it won't.

SW is much less about counting and more about changing your eating habits so may work better long term if it works for you. If you go back to eating as before at the end then none of them work and you'll just put the weight back on.

Works well for me as there is very little measuring or counting which used to always make me focus constantly on how much i had eaten or how many calories / points i had left and what i could eat to use them when probably i didnt feel hungry enough to actually need. I like that you can eat decent meals and portions, it focusses me on healthier choices and if i stick to plan properly i lose weight without really feeling hungry, i started a few weeks ago and am enjoying the cooking lovely meals with nice fresh ingredients lots of new flavours with herbs and spices and different veg. The ready meals all have the recipe on to make it yourself.

Thank you everyone so I just started the diet today. Is it true that you get 4 special extra choice As if you're breastfeeding opposed to 2 when you're not?

I like Slimming World. It's really easy. Loads of free foods you can eat so no weighing and counting every mouthful. I've done MFP and WW before and hated counting everything.
SW works. It's easy and you can have little treats with your syns.
I'm so.much healthier on SW than counting points or calories where I'd starve myself all day so I could have a big dinner or whatever 🙂
