Anyone want to start Friday 15th May with me?

BasinHaircut · 14/05/2020 08:54

A thread to be accountable to, first weigh in in the morning and every Friday thereafter.

Newbies, current and old members all welcome.

Just want a bit of SW chit chat and ideas and advice sharing.

About me: I’ve done SW a few times before. I have cycles of SW for a few months, gradually put it all back on over 18 months, rinse and repeat. I’m not currently a member but still have my old books.

I think I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been and want to lose 1-1.5 stones. I am under no illusion that I will easily get down to previous lowest weights but I am appx 12st 9lbs and I’d be happy with 11st 7lbs. I was just under 11stones when I got married and I looked fantastic, but 1 child and 8 years later and I’d take 11 and a half.

Anyone with me?

Ok just me then! Grin

Initial weigh in this morning 12st 7lb 2oz on my home scales.

First mini goal 12st.

Today will be a soft start as have a couple of non-SW friendly meals already planned over the next day or so and my shopping is delivered on Sundays. But I’m going to do what I can until then. No snacking, and I’m changing my breakfast from my calorie-laden granola to Weetabix starting from now.

I’ve got a day off work today so going to do some meal planning and recipe scouting for next week.

I was just wondering about trying SW. I seem to have put on a stone in recent months - my kids continual baking during lockdown is not helping!

I’ve never done SW before so any tips appreciated. Lots of friends seem to have success.

Initial weigh in today - 64.7kg (someone has changed the bathroom scales to kg and I keep struggling to change it back)

Boiled egg for breakfast.

Will attempt to avoid my usual snacking and do some meal planning. Maybe rummage in fridge and have some kind of salad for lunch.

MissMogwai · 15/05/2020 10:55

Great thread. Count me in.

I lost 18lb up to Christmas then maintained for ages until lockdown. I've put a stone back on 😐

I was supposed to be getting married next week but obviously that's off. So my motivation has gone in a cloud of crisps and wine. I'm also working from home so snacking much more.

I feel horrible and sluggish. So I'm back on it today.

Weigh in today 12.10lb - goal is 11st.

Breakfast was weetabix with berries and I've just had a banana.

BasinHaircut · 15/05/2020 12:17

Welcome @PrincessLuna do you know that plan? If not, and you have some Friends that have done, one of them might have an old book you can have to get you started?

Welcome @MissMogwai seems like you are pretty much at the same starting point as me then, with a similar end goal? Sorry about your wedding do you have it re-booked?

OP posts:
MissMogwai · 15/05/2020 12:45

@BasinHaircut yes we have rebooked it for end of September but who knows!

It's hard to stick to it at home isn't it. I'm going to join online as if I'm paying for it I will probably stick to it a bit more! (Lies)

MissMarplesParcel · 15/05/2020 14:37

Hi I’ll join! But I will have to start tomorrow 🙈 weighed in this morning at 10 stone 13.5lbs and I’m 5 ft 5 so when I checked my BMI it said I’m now officially overweight. I’ve gone from a size 10 and 9 stone 9 around 2 and half years ago to now squeezing into a size 14. I hold all my weight in my stomach.

I blame my weight gain on infertility & ivf but the emotional eating associated with infertility is probably more accurate.

I’d like to get back to 9 stone 9. I signed up online a week ago but haven’t followed it. Hopefully this group will help.

BasinHaircut · 15/05/2020 16:04

Welcome @MissMarplesParcel. Sorry about your IVF troubles.

I’m the opposite. My waist is fine but I gain weight in my arms, chin and even my ankles!

My main problem is that I can literally be over 1.5 stones heavier and my clothes still fit. They might look shit, but they still fit.

Would love to join you too. I'm joining SW on Monday. I'm 5ft 5 & my ideal weight would be 10 stone, weighed myself this morning & I'm now 11st 5lbs.

I'm joining a virtual class so not sure if I'll get the books or just have access to the app. I'd prefer the books. Last time I was a member you could only have 1 HEA but I think you can have 2 now so that'll make life a bit easier for me because I love cheese! I presume the syns are the same.

stopandListen · 15/05/2020 18:18

Hi sorry it's late but still the 15th so can I join?? I'm a massive 15st at this morning's weigh in!
I have always hovered around the 11st mark but since having my 2nd child FOUR years ago I just keep getting bigger! Blush

Can't seem to motivate myself so would be happy for the support

LeoTimmyandVi · 15/05/2020 20:20

I joined on Weds but still good to share the journey with some fellow starters Smile

@stopandListen I am 14st 13.5 so same weight as you and also aiming for 11stone. Feels a long journey but we will get there!

stopandListen · 15/05/2020 21:31

@LeoTimmyandVi 👍 looking forward to finally shifting some weight!

BasinHaircut · 16/05/2020 08:22

Welcome @walksonthebeach. I’m not sure about the HEA and syns now. I’m following the plan as it was about 2 years ago as that’s what book I’ve got. I do love cheese though and usually used 5-6 syns a day so I could have both milk and cheese.

Welcome @stopandListen and @LeoTimmyandVi too. I think the trick when you have a bit more to lose is to think of it a bit at a time and set mini goals. So you could aim for a stone off first and then forget about the next stone until you’ve done that if you see what I mean?

Did my Tesco order yesterday (arriving tomorrow morning). Next week dinners will be roughly as follows:

  • roast turkey, root veggies and mash
  • turkey stew/soup
  • spag bol
  • pad Thai
  • salmon and sweet potato wedges
  • fishcakes
  • curry
Lunches:
  • turkey soup
  • pasta bolognaise
  • jacket potatoes
  • eggs on toast
  • crustless quiche and salad
  • cooked meats and salad
  • bacon something

Breakfasts will be weetabix and milk or porridge I think.

Not expecting a perfect week whilst I figure it all back out but as long as I manage not to snack shouldn’t be too far off.

LeoTimmyandVi · 16/05/2020 10:58

@walksonthebeach - if you are paying the £2.50 a week then you will get the books in the post (so I am told) but if you just joined online then you don’t - good luck on your journey!

Thanks for the welcome @BasinHaircut - your meals for next week sound fab - yum!

stopandListen · 16/05/2020 17:57

Hi all checking in! Day 1 so far so good, having chicken curry tonight the mayflower one and sw chips, good idea about little goals, feels I've a mountain to climb, never been so heavy, even full term pregnancy I was 12.10!

I'm going to take an hour tonight to meal plan for this week, I'm working full time and my kids at school so have little time, hence I've just been having crap food and not proper meals.

How's everyone today?

babyt2020 · 16/05/2020 18:00

I would love to join but I'm currently 37 weeks pregnant and cannot stop eating! However as soon as my baby is here (due 6th of June) I intend to seriously start, I'm breastfeeding and SW is perfect for this, good nutritious food with decent portions, good luck in the meantime ladies 👍😁😁

Rugby7777 · 17/05/2020 08:32

So I started back to SlimmingWorld yesterday but my weigh day will be every Wednesday. So I’m not expecting to loose much my first weigh in. I’ve set my target low to start off as when I’ve aimed high in the past and struggle I start to give up. I’m a really fussy eater but I’ve got try and loose some weight.

BasinHaircut · 18/05/2020 12:44

I have accidentally skipped breakfast for the past 2 days. I never skip meals!

Lunch today was leftover roast turkey, with leftover risotto from Saturday and some steamed asparagus. Yum.

How is everyone getting on?

walksonthebeach · 18/05/2020 12:57

I've started today although I haven't had my zoom meeting yet. Trying to remember the plan as best I can. I had branflakes with skimmed milk for breakfast & a mushroom omelette for lunch. Not sure what to have for dinner yet. Going to do my weekly shop now so I'm well prepared for the week Smile

OLLIE2011 · 18/05/2020 20:12

I'm starting tomorrow. I signed up this afternoon and have a zoom meeting tomorrow. I'll be weighing in Tuesdays if anyone else wants to track with me?

BasinHaircut · 22/05/2020 08:09

First weigh in, 12st 6lb on the nose, so a 1lb loss. TBH I haven’t been doing it 100%, but will try harder this week!

superstar84 · 23/05/2020 21:51

How have you found it for your first week?

I'm starting on Tuesday
