Bread - synful!

Hi all

I have recently (re) started SW and am already a bit down in the dumps about not being able to have cereal for breakfast and a sandwich for lunch . Seems a shame that potatoes, pasta and rice are unlimited but bread is synned very high.

This morning I synned porridge so I can have a sandwich for lunch but I must admit I resented it Grin. In fact, this is why I gave up last time. How I wish it was 2 HEB and 1 HEA!

Anyone agree or am I being a miserable cow?

It's all about the energy density eg how full it keeps you feeling for the amount of calories. Rice and pasta fill you up for a long time on relatively few calories (iofcourse 1/3 of your meal will be superfree so as to reduce the amount of rice/pasta you need to become full to begin with) whereas bread won't keep you full for as long. It also has fat in, which rice and potatoes dont. If you enjoy it so much, try making cloud bread instead.

I found it hard as when I did red and green days I liked 2 A's and 2 B's.

To be honest it was hard at first but now it doesn't bother me. Even as a target member I don't always up my healthy extras. I do find I need some sort of carb on my plate to ensure the balance though.

That's what failed me when I tried SW back in January. I like cereal for breakfast and a sandwich/roll for lunch so I didn't feel full having a salad for lunch instead or an omelette. I craved bread! I don't eat cheese so the extra lot of HEA you can now have is wasted on me. I'd rather have extra bread! I really need to lose weight though so I'm tempted to join again and just suck it up.

If diet clubs worked, they'd go out of business

I miss bread, too.
Skyr natural yoghurt with fruit is a sustaining breakfast ( high protein).
That saves a b choice for lunch for your bread, and you could have extra bread and syn it: potentially, you could have 6 slices of bread if you wanted to use 12 syns and your b choice!

Ok so here’s my non SW approved advice.

You could have cereal for breakfast and a jacket potato for lunch.

Small jacket potato is about 250cal

So have a roll for about the same calories if you prefer.

SW will not approve this as in their opinion the jacket potato would fill you up more and prevent you snacking more later.

If you are able to understand this and NOT snack later it will make naff all difference to your weight loss.

Don’t give up over a roll 😂

OP, you could try following PP's advice, and see if the scales show that you can get away with it.
I like to follow the plan to the letter, but that's just the way I like to do everything!
You might not mind being more flexible.

Thanks ladies, I might give it a try! My fruit and yogurt didn't quite do it for me this morning! Grin

Totally agree

I like toast and fruit for breakie. Or cereal and fruit Fills me up. It’s quick

I like a Sarnie for lunch but object using 6syns for it

I have tried ommlette or sw fry up but takes time

I did try the cous cous sweetened with fruit

Quite nice and quick

I know the dairy and fibre for a and b are needed but Both are 6 syns worth

I have black tea so unless cereal don’t use milk so use one a for cheese
So surely you could swap a b for an a for same sun value ?

When I did slimming world I used to have the crustless wholemeal bread expensive and I could have 3 slices a day.
I used to have 1 slice toasted in the morning with egg or beans and then the other 2 slices for a lunchtime sandwich. The slices are small but it worked for me.
