Joined today but now feeling a bit deflated

I’ve been a member of WW on & off for the last few years but stopped going completely about a year ago & have piled weight on since. I have around 4st in total to lose so made the decision to give SW a try & joined today.

Chose SW rather than WW as know a few people who’ve had great weight loss success with it recently.

The food plan itself looks good & is actually surprisingly similar to WW (in terms of free foods etc).

However, I didn’t really enjoy the meeting - each person’s weight loss was announced loudly to the whole group & then they had to talk about how they’d done. It went on forever (almost 2 hrs Shock!).

I don’t know what I was expecting but thought it would be more like WW where they don’t publicly announce your weight but you can share it if you choose to. I think I will find it really embarrassing Blush. Plus WW meeting is 1hr max.

Since getting home I’ve also discovered the SW app doesn’t have a food diary or exercise log or links to Fitbit, all of which WW app does do. Or am I missing something?

Also at WW I was able to pay by card/pay monthly whereas SW group is cash only pay weekly. Feels a bit behind the times.

I’m now sat here feeling really deflated & disappointed & am left wondering if SW is the best plan for me after all.

Is there anyone who has done both who can persuade me it is better than WW & worth persevering with?

Gold gets you the food optimising books. And I believe you can buy the recipe books and hifi bars on the online shop.

@Iklboo i hadn't realised there was a weightloss planner on the website, but now I'm there it's suggesting Extra Easy and Extra Easy SP plans. I'm just doing the regular one - which do you use?

iklboo · 09/07/2019 16:29

@TigerJoy - I use the Extra Easy plan. The SP one concentrates on protein and speed food only.

I initially found the meetings a bit cringey and I don't always stay but I have to say that I like the encouragement and discussion. There's always people clapping in our place if you've lost a lb which makes me laugh but it does feel good. It's helped keep me accountable anyways!

You can ask your consultant not to read out your weigh in result during image therapy if you want to... they can just ask you if you have tried anything new or what are your plans & target for the coming week.. I never set a mini target, I just say what will be will be.. I don't do well under pressure or feeling like it's a competition..

The weigh in session should not last longer than 30 minutes if it does the group is too big & another session needs to be added & image therapy should be approx 30 mins too definitely not 2 hours... if this is happening the area leader needs to be informed..

I went on a consultants info day & SW are very particular about this.

Good luck

I have re-joined today and the planner on the website seems pretty easy .

I used to go to meetings before but it was useful for some - but most of the time I just got weighed .

I need to lose 2 stone and I am always hungry so I am hoping I can do it with mainly free foods
