One week off slimming world and put 6 pounds back on

I was doing well for about 3 weeks and had lost 6 lbs, then had a few days away so ending up lapsing for a whole week, I didn’t even think I’d been eating that bad, compared to how I usually am on holiday, weighed in this morning to find myself back to square one! I’m hoping it’s a blip and a few pounds will magically disappear but I’m also wondering if this way of eating is just a farce and you will always put it back on as soon as you go back to normal eating!

If you think of eating less and more healthily and 'normal eating' as larger portions and cakes/biscuits/snacks then I'm afraid yes, you won't maintain weight loss. The trick is to find a way of eating that works for you and stick to it forever and call that 'normal' instead? Some people try eating well for 6 days a week with one cheat day, other don't eat sugar or carbs, others try OMAD (one meal a day). Whichever you choose that just needs to be your normal way of eating. It's not easy I know but once you find your thing you'll be fine.

You’ll put the weight back on if your calorie intake exceeds your energy requirements. What do you honestly consider a ‘normal’ day of food and drink in holiday?

It really does come down to calories in vs calories out. Track your cals on my fitness pal for a week. You may well lose weight on slimming world but that will be because you happened to have a calorie deficit that week, not because of the diet plan itself.

For me SW is a way of life now. The minute I go wild eating lots of junk again, lots of bread then it piles back on. I can usually lose it the following week by being back on plan.

I have lost weight before using MFP and I’ve never put this much back on from having just a week ‘off plan’ I only have a stone to lose anyway so I had lost nearly half and now I’m back up! I will try another few weeks of SW and see what happens.
