A leader near me is very , very large. About 15 stone maybe? I'm sorry but how can this be a good thing?

Quite agree about depression, it literally is the pits. Its a pity no organisation can support healthy lifestyle, weight loss and low mood. Guess there's no money to be made in that.

So you are counselling people and thinking " if I was that size I would kill myself"

Nice.

Orangecushion that’s what I was thinking, went to reply but thought cold weather just isn’t worth the effort. Qualified maybe but to have that strong an opinion on people struggling with their weight honestly think cold weather is in the wrong line of work 😐

It makes me laugh when people throw the obese/overweight card as if a measurement of weight is automatically a measurement of health.
I was a healthy size 10/12 kickboxer when I was 18 going to competitions ,I ran half marathons and joined the army and on paper I was “overweight” after having my daughter a year and a half later I was then “obese” but I was still healthy ,Doing pole fitness weekly and eating healthy meals and still running 🙄 some people are just rude

I don't judge people's ability to do their job by their appearance normally, but I do think when you are essentially selling something like SW you have to be a walking advert.

Yes grenade, exactly. All eyes are on you, you as leader are the focus , the hope. Its farcical to be significantly bigger than those you are advising.

Any how hate SW, rubbish. Bleurgh Muller Lite.

orangecushion why not live and let live, or is it that you know everything? (Apart from that Muller lights have not been free on SW for some months now)

Report
orangecushion · 04/02/2019 14:47

I don't know everything. I am live and let live.

I don't see how you can encourage people to achieve something if you are a poor role model.

I don't care because its all money making rubbish.

How many syns ( stands for synergy ) in a Muller Light?
What is Synergy?
What is body magic/
How come Brenda lost when she had a kebab?

Answers on a ten pound note please.

I can sort of see where you are coming from OP. I joined sw last week and was surprised that the leader was overweight. I wondered maybe she was still on her weight loss journey, she then told me shes been on slimming world for 20 odd years. It did make me raise an eyebrow, but for all I know she was twice the size previously and this is the weight she is happy and comfortable at. She was by no means massively overweight but still overweight.
She then started the meeting and she was great! Full of enthusiasm and funny and encouraging so I'm happy to keep seeing her.

The best consultant I ever had (who left to go abroad) was 21stone. But He had lost 12 stone and really knew the pitfalls of the plan. Other good consultants ive had have been a few stone from target. The worst consultant I ever had lost 7lbs on the plan and was very slim. Luckily she was just covering but she advocated spitting and chewing (disordered eating) and didn't like it when members including a mental health nurse, registrar, social worker and myself challenged this.

Bit of a tangent but with slimming world I think as long as they are on the plan, have had success with it and are supportive it doesn't matter. Ultimately, I agree that sw is a business designed for profit (but for me is the best option and I do like it!)

God knows I have done every bloody club over and over again and now I'm bigger than when I started. Does it really work? Long term?

No, it doesn’t. How do you think these weight loss businesses make money? They don’t make it if you lose weight and keep it off, do they?

ColeHawlins · 06/03/2019 00:18

If you know the "syn" counting is nonsense anyway, why does it matter what weight the leader is?

Report
Bananasandchocolatecustard · 08/03/2019 19:33

SW group leaders are earning money. They are not proponents of a healthy lifestyle. Therefore they can be any shape or size.
