Why can't I ever find hummus?!?!? Argh

It's annoying that the app doesn't show up a lot of things. I pay a lot each month for the online membership and the app is crap!
I tried weight watchers briefly about 2 years ago and the app was amazing. You just scanned the barcode. Do I really have to input all the info myself to see how much syns are in a small individual pot of hummus?!

If it's not a free or healthy extra food then 20 calories is 1 syn. That's the 'magic' behind syn values!

Poodloo · 07/01/2019 09:28

Thanks! I do know the 20 cal per syn rule but thought the chickpeas in hummus would count as a free food. I thought the 20cal per syn rule was more for foods like chocolate / crisps etc... where no free food in the ingredients. But useful to know it might not be!

Crikey. In a 70g pot of hummus at 20 cal a syn it's apparently 12.5 syns. I just don't see how that's right?!

No that rule doesn't apply as you say it's got free food in.
Sorry can't help with the syns though!

willowpillow · 07/01/2019 09:40

Here you go, I just had a look for you. It's very high in syns!

Thank you! I've also just worked out it is right. I can't believe they don't class the chickpeas as free food! What a shame as I love houmous. And I have 3X 70g of the normal houmous which is 12.5 syns to use up! Oops.

Have you tried to make your own hummous? The free SW version, chick peas, lemon juice and garlic?

It's not amazing but it's not too bad either and it's syn free.

Poodloo · 07/01/2019 14:54

I've experimented before with not much luck but I'll try again. Thanks :)

I was advised to put Nando's garlic sauce in my hummus. Really liked it. Oil is what SW version is missing and it is high in syns.

OlennasWimple · 07/01/2019 15:10

Try adding toasted sesame seeds to your hummus - gives it a lovely flavour (though no idea whether they are bad SW wise)

ChakiraChakra · 07/01/2019 20:35

Urea been a while since I did SW so it might have changed but it used to be that I could have a mini tub (you know the stack of 3 you can buy?) of it as a healthy extra B. Might be worth checking if still the case.

ChakiraChakra · 07/01/2019 20:35

Urea?!? USED!

Groovee · 08/01/2019 03:28

No hummus isn't a HEB anymore.

WhenLifeGivesYouLemonsx · 08/01/2019 07:19

That's why I said goodbye to SW.

Shit app. I was fed up of trying to find something right down the bottom of the list and paying so much money yet they are taking so, so long to upgrade their website.

Online members always come second best because we cannot/do not go to group.

Shopping became extremely expensive. Going to 2-3 different places just because there are certain things that are low in syn, healthy extra A/B.

Ever since leaving and eating healthy/using common sense, my shopping has reduced from £110 a week right down to £60 for a family of 3! I'm finally happy I can eat bread and cheese and doesn't fucking matter whether it is a HexA or B!

Massive, massive saving. Sorry I'm rambling. It annoys me as much as it has annoyed you I'm afraid.

Aldi hummus is lovely Grin

Groovee · 08/01/2019 09:34

Jeez I spend about £50-60 for 4 of us and get loads of leftovers.

itsboiledeggsagain · 27/01/2019 17:56

I think the point of sw is you mostly eat free food. I've just bought a lot more fruit and veg and would make my own hummus if so inclined. I don't think I have looked anything up in 3 weeks. I just figure if I need to then I shouldn't be eating it.
