Is Slimming World for me?

I'd like to lose a stone.

I'm usually somewhere between 9 and 9.5 stones but since Christmas I've crept up to 10st 2lb. My heaviest ever. I'm 5 4 in height.

I seem to have rubbish will power at the moment, I'm 48 and my periods are all very the place (not sure if that's relevant?)

I've tried cutting back but can't seem to get into The Zone which is why I thought a more organised approach might work.

I'm also rubbish at exercising.

Help!

Any diet plan will work as long as you have the willpower and are in the right mindset to stick to it.

For me, slimming world didn't work. It works for some, but it doesn't work for others. I am like you and didn't have much to lose. The consultant told me I wasn't losing because I was exercising and not eating enough! I am not a fan of big portions and got my knuckles rapped because I hate eating breakfast! She admitted to me her success stories are people who have a greater amount of weight to lose.

I have tried lots of diet plans but the one that works best for me is 5:2.

It works and you don’t go hungery. I’ve done SW and WW in the past to loose a stone.
I found WW a real struggle, and it felt like it took forever- this was 14 years ago and I don’t know what it’s Like now.
SW I found easy - the concept is simple. You only need to weigh or measure two things a day. The rest is simple.
If you like bread or the like then it’s going to be tough.

I don’t do breakfast so I make the over night oats and have them mid morning at work.

Hmm........the 5:2 has helped me in the past. I'd forgotten about that one!

Give it a go!

Can I also suggest that, being a similar age to you, that I also stopped weighing myself. My periods were also all over the place and so was my weight. So I stopped weighing myself and just used a tight pair of trousers as my gauge. This approach really worked for me as all the frustration surrounding the scales was removed no longer kicking them around the bathroom floor!

OP you are probably best getting a wider range of responses if you want to compare slimming world to other diets on the general diet discussion topics.

It didn't work for me. I didn't like the active encouragement to eat a lot of processed food and in "free" quantities. I am also vegetarian which I don't think helped.

I found WW a lot better as nothing was banned, it just makes you more aware of what you are eating and in what quantity.

However, the only weight loss plan that's ever really worked for me was getting a very active dog! I've lost 3 stone from walking miles everyday.

What free processed food is encouraged?
Im eating shed loads more natural food on sw than i ever did before.
