Hi, I have posted on various weight threads over the past few years, always in January and fallen off the wagon by March.

I always said I was happy and my family loved me no matter what I weighed but I have finally decided enough is enough. I have a beautiful boy who is 6 with autism and severe learning disabilities. I want to be here when he is growing up and help him with his life.

I turned 40 yesterday and instead of asking my family for books and cross stitch, I asked for Amazon vouchers and used them to buy a fitbit. 10,000 steps is the recommended amount, I would not be joking if I said I walked 100 on some days. I come downstairs, sit on the settee and don't move again. I am lazy.

I joined a SW group last Monday and weighed in at 21st 2.5lbs. This is the last time I will ever see those numbers on the scale.

I have been trying hard this week. Went food shopping on Tuesday and bought all the healthy things I needed and I actually cooked meals from scratch. My son doesn't eat much, he has an aversion to a lot of textures and my husband is fussy but he made all their meals so I only had to do my own. I tried to stay away from the pasta, rice etc as I know unlimited doesn't really mean unlimited but I did have pasta one night. I haven't had any spuds but used sweet potato instead. Not keen on chopping and dicing so I buy the bags of cabbage ect ready done and have been having a full bag at each meal to fill me up more. My plate really looked overflowing but it was mostly veg.

My first weigh in is later tonight and I am hoping for a good loss. My main problem is I don't see the 1lb losses as good enough. I want it all off now. I have now came to see that even 1lb a week is 4 stone a year and I would be overjoyed at that so need to keep telling myself it over and over again.

Anyway, enough rambling for now. Will check in tonight with a hopeful loss.

Wow well done Grin

I put 2lb on but I’ve had a particularly crap weekend

Singlikemiranda · 30/01/2018 08:13

Whoa that is amazing!

iMatter · 30/01/2018 13:39

Well done OP - that's a fantastic start.

You should be so proud of yourself 😊

raisedbyguineapigs · 30/01/2018 19:22

Well done! That's brilliant. I got a fitbit for Christmas and it's really surprising how many steps 10,000 steps is. I've only managed it once, and that was with a 3 hour walk along the coast! Apparently the 10,000 step thing is a marketing ploy for fitbit anyway rather than scientifically based. Id say don't get disheartened if you just start off doing 5000 steps a day. It will be a massive improvement if you think you only do 100 steps some days and you can always build up.

Had a great day today. Went on our weekly food shop and we still spend around the same but whereas before this I used one of those shallow trolleys now I need the deeper one. I always said I couldn't understand why people had massive fridges as my freezer was always packed but my fridge maybe only had milk and cheese. Now my fridge is even more packed than the freezer.

My consultant phoned me tonight as well to say I had given in an excellent food diary. She also said she wanted me to join the social team so as of next week I will be on the pay desk. I know this is her way of getting me to commit to the group, but it was really nice.

I also signed up for the 12 week countdown yesterday so won't have the can't afford it this week excuse.

And my fitbit came today so need to clear some space on my phone to get that app downloaded.

Weigh day tomorrow. Not been synning sauces but everything else I have eaten is free. food

SoleBizzz · 30/01/2018 22:39

Just no stopping you now. To be asked to be part of the social team is lovely. Just think of how much smaller you'll be by June Grin

MumMoselle · 30/01/2018 22:45

Well done You! I started SW last year. It took a while to get my head around what I could eat and adjusting family meals.
I try to look at what I can eat rather than what I can't. I think that once I clicked with the HEXa and HEXb it became much easier.
I would recommend 'a pinch of nom website for recipes as well as SW.

JustTrying15 · 30/01/2018 23:39

Good luck for tomorrow Sole, can't wait to hear how you've done

So pissed off, is there any tricks to get rid of this faster, what is it...is is water, if I drink more will it shift quicker

It’s only been a couple of days, don’t stress. My leader always says to look at what you’re losing over a month rather than a week due to TOTM etc.
Look at pinch of nom and slimming eats for recipe ideas. There’s only me and DH and a lot of the time he sorts himself so I always have around 2-3 extra portions which I freeze up. It means I only have to cook a couple of times a week.
Also plan your meals, if I don’t do this I fail miserably.
Good luck!

JustTrying15 · 01/02/2018 15:49

I've been doing well this week. Actually left food on my plate a few times as I am trying my best to just eat at meal times, no reading or watching tv. I am thinking when I cook of making loads extra to freeze. I tend to serve mine out and then see a little bit left and think might as well eat that as not enough there for another meal.

Wow well done OP, 9lb was fantastic! I always gain when I’m due on its so frustrating. X

SoleBizzz · 02/02/2018 14:18

Put 2lb on. Fibroids. Stuck to plan 100%

JustTrying15 · 03/02/2018 00:21

Awk Sole Its disheartening when that happens. Hopefully it will shift next week along with a couple extra though.
