I love stews that are really rich and thick, but mine never seem to end up thick, not sure if I’m putting too much water in to start with? Any tips?

I use oxo cubes then use xanthum gum to thicken.

I toss the meat in flour (for slimming world will need to be syned), then fry lightly before adding to stewpot. Add the cut veg. Add stock cube. The flour will help thicken the gravy whilst cooking.

Add water to about 1 inch below the veg line. It creates more liquid as it cooks.

Just looked up flour sins at 2 per tablespoon.

I used 2 tablespoons last week in a large stew for 8 portions (2 stock cubes) So it's not syn free but but not terrible either.
