A new member at our group this week lost 13.5 pounds on week one!
How is that possible?
Biggest loser at target who comes to group regularly is at 5.5 stone
I’m biggest female loser at 4 stone

The men in our group always lose big. My biggest lost was 5lb after my holiday gain.

GoldenBlue · 11/01/2018 22:36

Today 40 members lost 170lb in total, highest was 11 lb

Personally my highest was 4

Total biggest loss I've seen is 19 stone which was incredible

Chocolate1984 · 11/01/2018 22:45

Most I've lost was 9lb but i was living off 2 packets of fruit pastels & Diet Coke.

I don't do sw now but when I did one woman lost 14lb her first week. They must of had alot of fluid retention and also if they had cut down slot on carbs then alot of glycogen that was stored in their muscles. It takes a deficit of 3500 calories to burn 1lb of fat on average so she won't of realistically burned 13.5lb of fat it will be a mix of fluid and glycogen too.

That’s very interesting thank you
Yes I agree the men in group always seem to find it easier
My week one loss was only a pound so very jealous!
I’ve never lost more than 4 and that was following a week where I’d not been well and hardly eaten at all
My loss averages out at a pound a week - hopefully if I can keep going then I’m 6 months away from target
Main intention is to keep it off forever
I cannot imagine losing 19 stone - respect to that person!

I hate having men in group, week in week out they get slimmer of the week despite having Friday night out with the lads and a kebab and chips every week.

Oldowl · 14/01/2018 10:00

A lady in my group has lost 9 stone. She fell over in a car park last January and could not get up. A week later she started at SW. She is now a size 12-14 and looks amazing. Seeing photos of her at her original weight was Shock.

We are all so pleased for her. What a life changing year.

(One lady lost 8lb last week - not a new member- I had to check she still had both legs, because that is the only way I could lose 8lb in a week. lol)

BarbaraOcumbungles · 14/01/2018 10:02

There’s a person on a Facebook group I’m on who said they had lost 17lb in a week.

I don’t think that can be healthy, at all.

fromtheshires · 14/01/2018 10:20

men will lose quicker than women if I understood the consultants reasoning for men getting more syns than women.

She said men have a higher muscle to fat ratio so get more syns as muscle burns more calories than fat.

I could be wrong but that probably explains it in my head.

I managed 7lbs in a week, but most of that was fluid I'm sure. I have however lost a fair few inches so I'm hoping half of it was fat

fromtheshires · 14/01/2018 10:21

Oh and 17lb in a week. I'm calling BS unless they can evidence it with a snip of their book and the weight loss cert to back it up!

BeyondThePage · 14/01/2018 12:49

losing a lot of weight at once is a sure fire route to gallstones, my doctor warned me about that before signing me up for slimming world...

GoldenBlue · 14/01/2018 23:10

This Saturday we had a husband and wife with huge losses he lost 1 stone 3 and she lost 1 stone 2.

They have both done SW before and were absolutely on it.

Yes a lot will be reduced water retention but it's a massive start.

I was happy with 2lb myself 😀

WorkingMumOnTheGo · 21/01/2018 00:12

If they are very overweight then it is normal to lose weight very fast. It starts slowing down the closer you are to your target. I am 1st and 5lb away from target and I can notice mine is slowing down a lot. I am losing on average 0.5-1lb a week whereas before I was losing 2-3lb a week
