Going to my first meeting on Monday. Not sure whether I need to get in contact with the group leader before hand, or just go along? Should I go a few minutes early? Although there is an earlier meeting and I don't want to stumble into the end of that! I've been looking forward to getting stuck In, but now I'm a bit nervous!

You don't need to go early but can if you want. They might be busy getting things ready. There will be time while everyone is getting weights before the meeting too if you want to have a word. Otherwise they will talk to everyone individually in the meeting.

Good luck 😊

When I joined my group, I just went along on my own, but a few other new people joining, some had phoned the the group leader beforehand, others just turned up. Everyone very nice and welcoming though .

I just turned up... I was terrified and almost cried. There was another 2 people starting at the same time though - I'm certain there'll be loads of new people at your group!

I have just remembered, when I started there is a small group chat with the leader and new people so you can talk to them then.

You can message the consultant if you want, or just turn up. I wouldn't get there any earlier than the tart time. The first half an hour is for existing members to come in, pay, be weighed, get a drink etc. The consultant should be welcoming people and sitting with any new people to go through the plan with you all. You then fill in a form with your details which gets passed to the person sat at the pay table to enter into the computer and sort out your book, which you'll get given at the end of the group. After the first half hour, then there the hour-Long 'image therapy' ie group session, where the consultant goes through the results on her tablet, talks to people, people share what kind of a week they've had, good and bad points etc. Everyone can chip in with advice or tips, general encouragement etc. At the end of all that is when you get weighed for the first time, pay your joining fees and get your book to take away.

It's all so friendly and inclusive, enjoy! And good luck!

No worries. I was a target member two years ago but then lapsed and now I've just rejoined to lose the 2 stone I've put back on! Wish I'd never stopped going in the first place!
There's a half hour buffer between the earlier group finishing and the next group starting so you won't walk in on the end of the previous meeting if you're a bit early.
