I’m thinking about joining, but I’m really really really not good with new social situations, I tend to stick with people I know. I’d love to here about your experience, especially if you’re not very confident.

What happens on your first visit? Are the people nice (I know that’s subjective but generally, were you made to feel comfortable?)

How does it work in groups, for new starters, where other people have already been there for some time? Are there ‘levels’?

I know a few people from work who have been and loved it but they’re overall more confident people. I’m not.

I know you get weighed, and that part doesn’t bother me but what does is how they act if you haven’t lost weight. I hate the thought of being told off or embarrassed about ‘failing’. Has anyone felt like that at all?

Do you have to be overly involved during the group or can you just sit in the back lol?

I joined SW this time last year on my own, and got to my 2stone target in 8 months, but I still go to group. Everyone has been amazingly lovely, a whole new circle of friends -we all laugh together and cry together if needed! In your first group any one new will sit in to the side with the Consultant who will go through the plan and options etc, whilst existing members will pay and weigh. Then you will sit with existing members whilst the Consultant goes round the group and we discuss how the week has been, any challenges, and new ideas etc. At no point is your actually weight mentioned, just the losses. You will 1000000% not be humiliated if you have put weight on, it happens to everyone at some point with time of the month, water retention etc, no matter how much you have stuck to plan. At their first meeting, new members will weigh at the end when existing members have gone, so you can have a chat about a target. After that you will just weigh in The start with all other members. Happy to help if needed, good luck! X

You missed out the slaughtering virgins, drinking their blood and dancing around naked katmunchkin

Seriously though, you go in and pay (or sign in if you have paid in advance) and joing the queue for the scales. Once you are weighed you then grab a chair and discuss recipies, problems etc as mentioned previously. You dont have to stay however ive grabbed a couple of cracking recipies from group.

Everyone brings in some 'free' food and the slimmer of the week takes it home as a reward. There is also sometimes a raffle.

"What happens in a class from the moment I walk in to the moment I leave?" < this section is not wrong.

Oh yes! Twochubbycubs are hillarious and produce some amazing recipies.

There are also a lot of filthy innuendos to giggle at before you get to your recipie. I love these guys!
