Questions about my first meeting

Bluesea2017 · 21/11/2017 11:03

I have weighted myself this morning and i have touched rock bottom.
For this reason, I have decided to join SW and i have notice there is a meeting in my local group today at 6.30.

Can you tell me how the meeting will go? Do i have to arrive at 6.30 or is like a walk-in kind of meeting?
Will i pay there? How long for? How much will i pay?
Will i get weighed?

I am so nervous. I am 43 and really need to do something before it is too late.

Thanks to whoever will reply.

At my group you would turn up at 6.30 whilst the group leader goes through the eating plan and explains it all to you whilst all other members are being weighed. You will then listen to the group meeting where they talk about that week’s losses and any other topic and then at the end you will pay (I think it will be around £10), be weighed and any targets you have in mind would be written in your book.

Good luck, I’m on my second week and lost 5.5lb the first week so it definitely works.

Oh wow Kim. Well done.

Did you find it difficult? I love my biscuits haha

I joined a few months ago and have lost 19 lb. If you do it properly it definitely works. I feel so much healthier now and am so looking forward to wearing some fab Christmas dresses. I didn't find it hard at all once I got into it properly. Best of luck!

i want to do it. I am worried i will be too weak

You can do it! The first few weeks are hard and require willpower especially as you get out of old habits -biscuit with coffee, evening snacking etc - but you learn to adapt and find new treats and it really does work. Good luck & turning up is the hard part!

Yes, replacing old treats with new, low syn ones is a key to weight loss. They have lovely 'hi-fi' bars in Different flavours available to buy at the meetings (salted caramel and macaroon are my favourites) and you'll get lots of other tips on low syn snacks and desserts too when you start to meetings.

There will be a phone number on the website for your group leader. I text mine the day of my first meeting and he told me to arrive ten mins early for the ‘new member talk’. It was very helpful and the group were very welcoming. The hardest part of SW is walking through that door the first time - after that the rest is easy.

I’ve lost nearly 3.5 stone since March and I’m at target now. If I can do it, anyone can. Flowers

Thanks everyone. Wow, your losses are fantastic. I hope to be as good as you.
I have just text the group leader, thanks for the suggestion outout.

I joined in January. Went along 10 minutes before the meeting. The new members area is usually sign posted and someone will chat to you. As the weigh in starts the consultant will do the new members talk. Then you will fill in paperwork and join the group, then pay at the end and be weighed. I find most people at ours are friendly. Getting there early means you can have a wee cuppa during the new member talk.

I sat in the car for 20 minutes and my legs were like jelly as I walked in. I’ve lost 3st 10.5lb so far.

ohdo · 22/11/2017 13:23

How did you get on, OP? Flowers

Bluesea2017 · 24/11/2017 12:39

Hi ohdo,
I loved it!
I mean, lovely people at the meeting.
I did not feel intimidated.
I still struggle to understand the whole thing like you can eat loads of ham or eggs, that is not really too healthy, or stock cube is free even if full of salt and processed and diet coke..... but if it works it works!! :)

Today is my third day. I love a sweet breakfast so i am trying to adapt and i need to be organised with food shopping and cooking (full time job, kids, activities....i would love to have a frozen pizza because not planning and cooking), but i am sticking to it!

Thanks for all your support!!!

Glad you went and that you’re feeling positive.

You do have to be careful with SW...IMO some parts of the plan are total bollocks. For example MullerLights, which are essentially a chemical shitstorm, are ‘free’. There’s such a fine line with the free food; veg, great. Fruit and processed shite, not so great. It can really catch you out if you’re not careful.
