Doing slimming world with food intolerances
Theyearofthecats · 19/11/2017 12:03
I joined slimming world last week and found that because I am lactose intolerant I couldn't have free yogurts or make any recipes requiring quark etc.Which limited what eat I usually have soya or oat substitutes.
White pasta and some sweeteners and spices also caused problems me with ibs.
The slimming world sausages caused me to go sick.
Is it worth me doing the plan?
I didn't want to tell the group as I felt embarrassed.
I really like the idea of not calorie counting though and the group was nice and friendly.

What would you have cooked and eaten pre sw? You can usually tweak recipes to make them sw friendly by cutting out oil, adding more veg, using lean cuts of meat etc.

I usually make casseroles, roasts, curry with coconut milk, pasta dishes with wholemeal pasta home made pizza with lactose free cheese.
I use tesco free from lactose products like cooking sauces, mayo, soft cheese etc.
I think because the soya ,oat milk or free from products are not fat free and contain sugar I can't substitute them for muiller lights, quark cottage cheese etc on slimming world.

I've cut out dairy since starting SW. Coconut milk can still be used as a healthy extra, and I either count the syns if having yogurt or cut it out altogether. It's just about choosing different meals - this week, we're having spaghetti bolognese, sweet chilli chicken, and shepherd's pie (with lamb). None of them need dairy and the bolognese uses wholemeal spaghetti.

You'll need to be logged into the website to see this but it's an article on doing the plan without dairy.

Thanks will look why did you cut out dairy tiegrr?
TieGrr · 20/11/2017 17:33
I'm lactose intolerant but also have been having issues with my sinuses for years. Only recently found out there's supposedly a link between it and dairy so trying to cut all dairy out now to see if it makes a difference.
OwlinaTree · 20/11/2017 19:13
All your meals look fine to me. You could syn coconut milk and we make curries with sharwoods balti paste. 13.5syns for half a jar, but if you add a couple of tins of toms and loads of veg you can get 6 portions of of that so 2.5syns a portion then.

You can do pizza with a flattened chicken breast as a base!

Thanks for all the ideas I have gone right off plan though need to get back on it.I did have one or two good days where I made casserole, and a roast dinner.
