Is there a way to find out how many syns are in foods if you don’t go to the meetings?

I’m considering trying slimming world as I want to lose about a stone/stone and a half if possible. The only problem is I don’t have time to get to the meetings every week and I’m a bit nervous about going if I’m honest!

Has any one got any tips or advice?

I joined last Feb & have lost nearly 9 stones so far. I'd tried many other slimming groups & diets & find this the best by far. I do go to group & stay each week cos personally I don't have the willpower to do it from home. Group is good as everyone is really supportive & you get loads of tips. Walking through the door that first time is hard but you will be so glad you did it. If you do choose to do it from home you can join & do it online & then you can use the syns calculator. Good luck. Some Facebook groups give you the syns or google can be your friend.

Minimins website might help

Thank you for the advice!

I’ve had a google and not sure what people mean by green plans etc? I thought you were just allowed a certain amount of syns a day?

Also can anyone explain what hex a and b is?

Thanks again x

If you can afford it, I would suggest going to one meeting and paying to join. That way you can sit through the new members talk which explains the plan, and get the books with all the detailed information in. You don't have to go back if you don't want to.

I joined 2 weeks ago and I'm already half a stone down. You don't have to go to the same group every week - I'm going to Friday morning groups as that's my day off but at half term I'll go to the Thursday night one instead.

Staying to group is invaluable and I'd not learn about new recipes etc otherwise

There is a list of free Foops which you make your meals out of and then there is two listsides that you have to choose one or two things off for calcium etc.
The sins are for extras that are not in the free points list.

Healthy Extras are A: Calcium so measured milk and cheese. B: fibre so cereal/bread/cereal bars/nuts/stewed fruits/tinned soup/nuts and seeds.

I would advise buying Woman’s Own tomorrow to get a free joining voucher... you will get the new member talk and the Pack and don’t have to return.
