Feeling depressed-lost 2lb in three weeks :(
Appuskidu · 25/09/2017 08:17
I am so down about this- can anyone give me a shake! The first two weeks went well-lost 2lb, then lost 2lb, but then I seem to have put the 2lb back on again . I am struggling to 'go' to the toilet which doesn't help-but I'm sticking to the plan-1/3 of speed with each meal, no chocolate, no crisps, plenty of fruit, minimal bread-I have my Hex a and b.
I could probably drink more water and do more exercise-that will have to be my next step. It's not helping that DH started it with me and has lost a stone-he has done no exercise either . He has much more to lose, I suppose-I am 10 stone 8 and would like to be 9 1/2 but it seems to be proving really hard :(
Can anyone offer any advice? All I keep reading is people who haven't lost for a week and people reply saying weight loss is never as big as in the first couple of weeks, but that makes me want to weep!

One of the ladies at my group is a slow loser too. She's tried changing things around so different HE's. Are you having any syns?
Appuskidu · 25/09/2017 11:02
Thank you for your reply-it's so disheartening:(
I could try swapping my breakfast-at the moment I have two pieces of small wholemeal bread as toast as I don't really like cereal. I am having syns-not over the quota though. What I don't get is that I'm eating more fruit and veg, not eating any crap-chocolate/crisps etc and having no wine (have been having him and sl tonic instead) but nothing!

Hello Appuskidu, I joined slimming world at the end of June and have so far lost 1 stone 6.5lb. I have felt disappointed at times with my weight loss too, especially when someone I had started with was loosing much more each week. We are all different and loose weight differently too, please don't feel too discouraged with the slow loss, as a loss is still a loss, and 2lb of fat gone is a huge amount!
Maybe try to up the amount of water you are drinking, as fruit and veg are very high fibre you may end up unable to go if you don;t also increase your water intake. Like Groovee has mentioned are you having syns? your 15 syns are there to be eaten, I also use all of mine, also try to experiment with your hex's. Do you stay for image therapy each week? As I have found the other members and their experiences so helpful! Good luck with your journey! xx

Yes, I'm having syns. I will up my water intake though. I don't go to the group as I'm doing it online.
Just feel totally rubbish today. 2lb in three weeks is pretty pitiful.

What about a protein based breakfast like bacon and eggs or beans on toast rather than just toast. I do omelette which takes me less than 5 minutes to make.
Nicky4652 · 25/09/2017 11:54
I have 2 alpen lights or hifi bars (hexb) for breakfast with 2 easy peeler oranges, a pear and a muller light. Fills me up until about 12 when I will have an apple, banana or some mango.
Are you able to go to a group and purchase hifi bars if you are an online member? They are so tasty and low sign or hexb, new carrot cake flavour will be out soon!

Do what the others have suggested for a while, but also consider it just doesn't suit you. I've tried slimming world twice. Neither time I lost much. (I know people who have consistently lost loads on SW - just not me!) However I switched to weightwatchers and it worked much better.

I'm a slow loser too so I sympathise. Try not to compare yourself with your DH as men always seem to lose much faster for some reason. Try to think of long-term goals. My nice who's a GP reckons people who lose weight slowly and steadily tend to keep it off in the long term. Well done for making a start.
Northernmum100 · 25/09/2017 16:19
I think slow and steady wins the race. The changes you are making are for life so need to be sustainable-I look at some of the meals posted on social media and they are so unappetising and unrealistic that they aren't maintained so the big weight losses achieved by the posters don't last when they revert to 'normal' meals and the weight goes back on the following week.
Helenluvsrob · 25/09/2017 16:22
2lb ib 3 weeks is not " pitiful" it's 15 weeks till christmas approx and at 2lb/3 weeks you will be another 10lbs down or near a stone in total and at goal! Starting from what is really not an inappropriate BMI means it's harder I think
Hairq · 25/09/2017 21:59
Definitely up your water intake to help with the constipation because that will be masking weightloss. Does SW still sell that awful scan bran stuff? Because that would sort the constipation too. It's grim but it works and speeds weightloss up too.
Otherwise, make sure you're actually eating enough and make sure you have all your syns. Eating less syns doesn't equal faster weightloss.
Hairq · 25/09/2017 22:01
And also, depending on how tall you are, it could be hard for you to lose if you're currently a healthy BMI or near to a healthy BMI. If you're already a healthy weight and just want to be thinner 'because' rather than being overweight and wanting to be in the healthy band, your body will give up the weight you want to lose reluctantly.

I was always a slow loser at sw. I lost 3st but it was painstaking. The only thing that actually worked was following the old 'red' plan or its closest equivalent which was called extra easy SP I think? Basically protein, veg etc. I cut back on fruit quite a lot and snacked on hard boiled eggs and ham instead. There's different heBs on that plan but I found the extra bread unnecessary and had heAs instead (6 syns worth of cheese for example, instead if 6 syns worth of porridge). Eventually I realised that I was paying £5 a week simply to get weighed because I wasn't actually following the main plan. This was ok for a while, but eventually I got tired of it and quit. Sw doesn't always work for everyone, and for me particularly, 'unlimited' food wasn't good for me. Now I calorie count, I realise that with sw I was simply eating far far too many calories for my needs.
