Total newby-can anyone advise about quick meals?

I'm on holiday at the moment but intend to start SW when term starts. As I haven't joined yet-my knowledge of things are limited but I'm trying to think ahead! I am aware that my diet is very bread based at the moment and with working f/t I need quick family meals.

If I eat two bits of whole meal bread/marmite (no butter) for breakfast-is that syn free?

Is rice and salad syn free for lunch with some grapes/banana? Or jacket potato and tuna (no mayo)?

What sort of thing do you have that's quick to prepare for dinner? Am I right in thinking meat/fish/veg/fruit/pasta/rice are free if cooked with Fry light?

OP, you have the right idea for dinner , but that breakfast and lunch would not be SW friendly.
Perhaps you could just try to eat healthily at the moment, avoid overeating, and wait until you start attending group for the plan to be fully explained to you.
You could buy the SW magazine for now, to give you some ideas and inspiration.
Hope it goes well for you.

Thanks for the reply-can I ask what's wrong with the breakfast and lunch?

You could use your bread as a HE. But it would be a wholemeal 400g loaf to have 2 slices of bread or 1 slice of wholemeal 800g.

Lunch sounds fine to me. Your salad would be speed and rice would be free food. Jacket potato with tuna would be fine. I add red onion to my tuna and mix with fat free fromage frais which would be free. Add a side salad for your 1/3rd speed.

SW encourage you to replace 1/3rd of your plate with speed foods such as veggies or salad. Then cut down on your potatoes/pasta/rice and have protein too as it fills you up.

Omelettes are great too...3 eggs and lots of free/speed food in it, then a big salad on the side

Agree with above, breakfast you'd use your Hex B, but would need to make sure if was the correct bread.
Lunch is ok, you can make things like curry loaf or scotch eggs (syn free) to add to your lunch.
Dinner batch cooking is your friend. SW meals are handy to have, it's a bit hit and miss finding ones that you like, I'm veggie and love all the veggie ones, I usually have 1/2 but add loads of veg or rice etc.

Oh if you want microwave pouch rice, the only free on is Blue Dragon which I get from Home Bargains or B&M

If you can, I'd recommend getting a voucher, going to the new joiner talk and then see how you go if you can't stay to group. You will get the starter kit and the talk should help make sense of it all.

Good luck, I love it.
