At target - but how do I stay on track now ??!!

Two weeks ago I reached target. I was 100% on plan to get there, took a while but I did it. However the last two weeks have been really hard. My brain seems to think it can sneak in a few treats now, and I am not so focused. Last week I put on a pound, and whilst its not much I definitely don't want to go back down the slippery path to where I was.

How can I motivate myself to stay on track at target (forever!)

Watching with interest. Well done on getting to target Flowers

I'm 10lbs off target and quite frankly terrified of reaching it as I'm worried about slipping into the 'Oh it doesn't matter now I'm at target...' mentality.

Sorry that is so unhelpful to you, hopefully someone will be along shortly with some wiser words!

Thanks, thats it exactly. Its even harder than the journey to get here! There must be a way I can get my head into the right place. Going to keep going to group.

Good luck with the last 10lbs, I thought I would never loose that and even considered asking to raise my target, but I did get there at a slow pound a week. It can be done!

I think it's trial and error. My friend increased her HEB's until she maintained. If she wants to lose weight to get to the bottom end of target then she reduces them. Usually when she is due to go on holiday.

Thats great but the problem is the mental motivation though, to remain that committed and on plan. I seem to be thinking that I can just have a bit of cake or a latte or a few chips, and then it just all sneaks back on.

What about doing 5 days a week sticking to the plan then letting yourself have a few extras on the other two days?

piddleypower · 10/07/2017 07:58

Thanks. I just need the motivation to make sure it doesn't become the other way round!!

I think it really is just a case of somehow staying motivated. Or taking up a lot more exercise now so you can eat loads more without gaining weight. Maybe changing your focus from diet to exercise would keep you interested? Spinning is excellent for burning calories so you can eat a lot more calories. You could then tell yourself that the 'treats' have to be earned so a big blow out week (for a holiday etc) would mean a week or two of hard exercise.

Even just a power walk every day. You could aim to go further in your allotted time. Or go faster and turn it into a jog. Or something more intense if you're already fit.

I've been maintaining in my target range for nearly a year now. I've found that I follow the plan more loosely (not counting syncs etc) until I feel like I might be slipping out of my target range and then I'll do a week where I'll treat it as if it was my first week on plan and be a sw angel and that usually sorts me out. It does take a while to find your feet with maintaining but having a range of 3lbs either side of target really helps. I started by still weighing weekly but now I only weigh ever 8 weeks officially but weigh in between at home to keep track. Best of luck

Losing weight is easy. Gaining weight is really easy. Maintaining is really bloody difficult and I still haven't mastered it. I lose and gain the same 3.5 stone on a two year cycle. Confused Well done on your weight loss OP. Definitely keep on going to class.

Sis in law lost 4 stone, stopped going and gained it all back.

Friend got to target years ago and still tracks and goes to be weighed every week, she remains on target.
