Feeling a bit upset
12

DontFuckWithMyChocolate · 06/05/2017 21:36

Ok, so I started slimming world in January and this week I should get my 4 stone award. Yes, it's coming off really fast, but I've worked really hard to get where I am. Our group has a FB page and everyone posts little bits on there.
For the past few weeks I've noticed in group that one or two of them roll their eyes if I get slimmer of the week or slimmer of the month. (Which I do get fairly regularly, but like I said, I'm working hard on exercising etc).
Then today I posted something on our group and the same eye-rollers went on the defence about it. (It was only a motivational picture).
I still have a lot of weight to lose and this is the first time I've ever felt upset by someone at group.
I don't even know what this will achieve in me posting this here.
:(

I guess they are a bit jealous maybe if you keep getting slimmer of the week. Some people do get a bit funny about slimmer of the week.

I imagine they are indeed jealous. Just let them get on with it. Or call them out on it Grin

I don't stay to group and I don't partake in the Facebook groups. For me it is a personal journey. Obviously I wish others well on their own journey but I can't be doing with the whole 'politics' side of it.

Well done on your loss, you're doing brilliantly. I'd agree they are probably jealous.

The thing is, it's a fair competition. If they want to win, they should stick to it so they lose more.

I'd stay off the FB page if I were you, though - I'd hate to think of people bitching about me on then - you need to keep up your motivation and that won't help.

The fact is a lot go to SW classes and think that's all they have to do. You're sticking to the plan and losing weight - you're winning here!

I got slimmer of the week basket AND won the raffle one week - I got murderous looks.

However - the leader did it all the "wrong" way round. She did the raffle first, then SOW basket. Had the SOW gone first, I would havesaid to redraw the raffle.

Mention it to your group leader.... slimming world ethos is 'supportive'

They are not supportive

If it continues I'd look for a new group. Don't give up, you are doing fab!!

They're jealous. And I say that as someone who never got Slimmer of the Week. Yes, I felt jealous! I'm smaller, so I felt that my 2lb (and once, shock 3lb loss) did deserve a mention at times. It was as if people were saying I wasn't trying (and believe you me, I bloody well was!)

Don't let it get to you. You're doing fantastically well. Keep off the page!

I actually left because I wasn't feeling supported at all. My half pound weight losses each week were regularly dismissed as me 'not following the plan' or not trying hard enough. Which was crap. Some people lose it quicker and lose it bigger. Which, if you lose it bigger consistently, you are going to get lots of SOW awards. Doesn't mean you shouldn't feel proud though!

If I'm honest it really pissed me off that the same person regularly got slimmer of the week. It's completely irrational but i found it really de motivating.

You are an inspiration! I have just eaten my way through a small seaside town and know I'm in for a huge gain at next group.
I don't want to give up but my energy is very low and I keep eating high calorie food to keep going.

Don't give in! (Maybe offer the Sotw food for raffle next time you win it).

I go to SW and I do think it's demotivating that they don't pick the person who has lost the highest percentage of weight as SOW, rather than the person who has lost the most pounds.

They probably are jealous if you often get SOW, but imho it's not the fairest way to decide on SOW. That's not your fault, that's just the way it is
