Hi , over the years l have had a few goes at slimming world / weigh watchers whatever , always done well but ended up taking it easy and putting all the weight l lost and more back on ! My own fault ! But l have been through / going through menopause at the moment and back at slimming world . Main thing l noticed is it is much harder now for me to have good losses quickly ! Think l must be slowing down ! Although l did ok September to end of October l had an accident broken wrist etc stopped going ! Big mistake ! Been back almost 3 weeks and done well , but l and put on what l lost and more ! Some was festive fat , the other....Too much cider and treats out ! X

I'm going through the menopause and have lost 3 stone since the start of october. Whether or not I can keep it off is another story! I still have 2 stone to lose.
I must say, since losing weight I've stopped having so many hot flushes, I just get the odd few at night now. And my diet now is so much more healthy,
Give it a go I say! I do go to classes otherwise I think I would cheat Grin

Joined SW at the age of 49 after putting on weight in mid 40's. Was told by my GP when she prescribed HRT, just before I started SW that I should expect to put on another stone. I was determined not to and didn't.

TBH I followed SW religiously and after a couple of weeks didn't really need/want many syns. Lost 1.5 St to reach target weight. Seven years later still at target. It was a bit boring but it does work.

Now right at the end of the menopause and it only causes weight gain if you let it.

I didnt do slimming world but did ditch all dairy and really cleaned up my eating. Minimal processed food and wheat. My aim was to stop hot flushes and lose weight and keep it off. I did. Dairy contains naturally high levels of oestrogen which can cause major hot flushes and the insulin response from sugar and carbs can also make hot flushes worse. So by cutting these I lost the hot flushes. If i introduce too much carbs back then the hot flushes return. Im doing this for life now.

But the good thing is once you have actually been weighed it is over with , written in your book and you just hope you won't see those numbers again ! I was sent for bone density scan , was sitting talking to nurse and she asked me to sit still for a moment , chair was a set of scales ! Wow ! Very civilised ! Forgot to ask what l weighed ! It was when l broke my wrist and had given up healthy eating ! X

Hi Tilliii. Thanks for your input. I am post-menopausal and have been struggling with my weight (and hot flushes) for five years now. I am at my second attempt with Slimming World. You are so right about the sugar and carb content.
