why on earth would I cook myself my own sw roast potatoes then eat them all and proceed to gobble up the leftover ones from the rest of family.

I feel your pain - I carefully weigh out my portion of roasters cooked in oil (and write down the syns) and then proceed to eat extra ones (unweighed) as I am dishing up!
