How to decide on target weight?

I've been on SW since April and lost 2st 11.5lb (don't forget that .5lb😀) I'm almost at my initial target of losing 3st but I don't think I want that to be my final target.

My issue is, I have no idea what I should weigh, after being overweight for so long and the "healthy weight" range on the BMI thing is quite expansive.
How do you decide to call target?

Go for another stone and see how you feel. I set my target as my wedding day weight, when I felt ok but not really slim, because it felt achievable and because it might have been slim enough now I'm a few years older. Now I'm virtually there I'm going for another half stone and I'll reassess when I get there. (Doing MFP rather than SW, but the intended outcome is the same)

Middle of my healthy BMI so I had room to play with it while I decided, oh and then down a pound because it got me another award, rofl.

According to bmi I could Lose 5st exactly in total and still be within healthy range, albeit at the very lowest end. That just seems like a huge amount of weight when, although I was fat, I didn't feel that big.
I'm thinking I'll try for 4.5st and reassess if I ever get there.

That makes perfect sense to me, ChesterF. I just wanted to see a single digit number in the stones column, so 9st 13.5 (don't forget the .5!) was my target weight. I reached it just before Christmas, kept on eating the SW way and managed to lose more over the Christmas period! I just added a second HexB, because that was the bit I really struggled with - only eating 1 HexB a day & having to count others as syns - and kept on losing. I'm now at 9st, which feels right. You'll know when you get there, because it's easy to maintain - that's what I found anyway.

Chester, my Consultant tells members to find the weight at which they are comfortable, then to set their target at three pounds below that.
As target maintenance means staying at three pounds either side, that means that you are happy with being anywhere in that range.
I try to be at the lower end before holidays, Xmas, etc, so there can be up to 6 pounds grace while still remaining in target.

I set my target at the weight I would need to be in order for the NHS to class my BMI as within the healthy range. I realise that's the very top end of the healthy range but considering I've never been anywhere near a "healthy" weight my whole adult life it seemed like a reasonable target. I'm 2lbs off target now. Planning to see if I can maintain it for a while, maybe till after xmas, then I might try to drop another half stone or so.

How about finding a weight where you feel comfortable and that's easy to maintain. Whatever BMI nonsense that is.
