Aldi?

I have just converted to shopping there and was wondering if there is any SW recommendations or finds I should know about!
NapQueen · 25/08/2016 19:49
Prawns are free aren't they? Aldi do bags of frozen cooked king prawns perfect to chuck in a lunch box and defrosted by lunch at work.
I use aldi lots but keep falling off the SW waggon!
It's great for fruit and veg and meat all of which is free and they do bacon medallions so free there too.
They do bags of frozen cooked strips of chicken breast also free. Frozen salmon fillets free.

Their fat free flavoured yoghurts are meant to be very good and also their sugar free soft/fizzy drinks.
Oh and frozen fruit thingies

Agree with NapQueen re fruit and veg, and meat, especially 5% fat minced beef and Specially Selected chicken breasts.
Cooked meats, especially torchon ham.
Brooklea Fat Free Greek Style yoghurts: the lemon and the strawberry ones are free.
The Cheese Emporium Cottage Cheese: natural, and onion and chive ones are free.
And the usual groceries which are free foods, eg nice dried pasta, tinned veg and baked beans.
Nice cheeses for HEA's.
Frozen fruit.

Not so much SW wholly but I just find it such good value. We've done 100% aldi for our self catering holiday - 4 adults,2 kids and a baby and all booze and treats extras etc was 120quid total. Seven breakfasts seven evening meals and packed lunch stuff too.

Always check syn values on everything from there as pretty much everyone in my group myself included have been buying things we thought were low on syns or free but they weren't cos of the sneaky extras they put in like a lot of cheap products have.
I've also stopped buying potatoes, broccoli and most fruit from there as they tend to turn within a day or two and their carrots always taste of soap. I used to be able to 95% of our shopping there and get the 'top up' shop from elsewhere but now it's less than 50% we get and that's falling weekly

I like the specially selected cooked Cajun chicken which is free. You'll find it near the hams.

Syns allowed Facebook group has an aldi section on the pinned bit at the top. The essentials savoury rice is free (white packet) and nice! They do also sell skinless and boneless chicken thighs which are really nice and free. I really like the mini 40g choceur bars that come in a pack of 4, the dark chocolate is 10 syns and milk is 11 syns but they are nice size bars and good for a chocolate fix. Dark chocolate one is delicious.

Beware of the fake muller lights they have Syns in! The Greek style muller copies are free though and are really nice very thick and creamy.
