Slimming world with a healthy Bmi

Does slimming world work if you're not technically overweight? I have about a stone to lose. I'm 10st and 5 foot 6 and I'd like to get back to around 9 stone which is what I weighed before I had kids. But I am in the healthy range for BMI.

I want to eat healthily but still lose weight rather than just maintain my current weight. I can't exercise (other than physio exercises) because of an injury.

Would slimming world work for someone like me? My mum has just joined and she is quite overweight. They've said she can have 20 syns a day and she reckons that it would work for me but I'd be allowed fewer syns. Does anyone know if that's the case?

I can't see why not. You wouldn't get 20 syns though, probably more 10-15.

Pitapotamus · 16/08/2016 14:53

That's good, - what's the rationale behind the syns allocation then?

I'm obese and am only allowed 5-15 syns per day so not sure how your Mum has more?

Pitapotamus · 16/08/2016 14:59

She might be technically obese. She went for the first time yesterday and they said 20. I hope they were right otherwise it's going to be a wasted effort for her!

Hmm, I'm not sure on your mums allocation. I am obese, mhave 7.5 stone to lose and maximum syns I can have are 15. I know men get more, perhaps the leader gave her the wrong amount.

Syns, not entirely sure on their allocation, but it's to do with reducing your calories I guess.

I think SW would work for you by the way, increasing veg and keeping a limit on treats.

I'm similar stats to you, very slightly heavier and I've recently restarted slimming world, it definitely works for me Smile
You may have smaller losses than heavier members but if you stick to t it should work.
Good luck.

Thanks i'll give it a go! I think looking at that link they've got it wrong for my mum.

It definitely still works with those who have less to lose. I am also now following the SW pregnancy plan with a healthy BMI.
