Going to a group on my own

I'm thinking of going to a Slimming World group as I've tried doing it online and not stuck with it. I don't know anyone else in my area who wants to do it though. There is a local group, but I'm a bit nervous about just turning up on my own. I only need to lose 1.5 stone, I'm 5ft tall so am not carrying extra weight very well.

Has anyone else gone on their own? Are the groups friendly?

Hi, I joined on my own and my group are friendly. Usually there are new joiners every week so you have something in common with them straight away.

I would say do it! Once you have been for a week or two, you really get used to it. I've lost 13.5lbs in 4 weeks. I do have more to lose than you but find it a really good diet for learning better eating habits Smile

I went on my own and was unbelievably nervous but actually found it to be super friendly. Our group leader is really good at including people without making you feel uncomfortable. You could go along and get weighed and if you feel uncomfortable then leave straight after the weighing? I often have to do this as I have my young daughter with me who rarely sits through a whole group.
Good luck!

I joined on my own too (4weeks ago), had a really nervous tummy the day I first went but it was totally fine. Consultant was really friendly as were the others in the class. I have to go to 2different groups due to work but both have been fine.

I'm quite shy but everyone is there for the same thing so the chat is generally how good we've been or if we've tried any good recipes.

Ah, that sounds great, you've put my mind at rest. There's a group this evening, so I'm going to get myself ready and go Smile

Bit late if your group is tonight, but you could always ring the consultant so she knows to look out for you.

I went on my own to SW and WW. On my experience most people there come on their own

tabulahrasa · 10/05/2016 18:55

Some people join with friends or family, some alone, it'll be fine, honestly Smile

notasillysausage · 10/05/2016 19:07

Good luck tonight! It will be worth it Smile

I went Smile. It was fine. The consultant was lovely and there were 5 other new starters, so I wasn't on my own really. Thanks everyone. Now I just have to knuckle down and get on with it Grin.

Well done igglu, I went on my own two weeks ago, 2nd weigh in tomorrow, so interested to see how I've done. As long as I plan, I'm finding it pretty straightforward.

I went on my own and when I got there my neighbour was there.

Really nice group too
