My dh joined SW a few weeks ago and I am trying to cook our evening meals from their recipes, but family-friendly stuff that everyone will eat. So far:

spag bol - very good, have made several times
cottage pie - good
macaroni cheese - disgusting
chicken korma - not great, but may have been the type of korma powder I used, will have another go
couscous with peppers, courgettes and feta - nice
omelette with mushrooms and ham - good (but hardly a recipe as such)

Anyone got any other ideas?

A tablespoon is half an ounce, and 8 ounces to the cup.

How do you make mashed potato?

Potato & Quark maybe? With some milk?

Hello all, I joined up yesterday and am finding it a little hard to navigate so far. It seems the on line info isn't as great as weight watchers. I didn't know where to start ploughing through the recipes so this thread will definitely help!

Can I ask which chicken tikka massala recipe you are using as there are a few on the website?

I love Chinese sticky chicken. I cook two chicken breasts, diced, with 3tbsp balsamic vinegar, 3tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp honey, and 1 tsp Chinese 5 spice. It's amazing. Basically brown the chicken, mix together other ingredients into a sauce and add bit by bit to the chicken. It thickens and sticks to the chicken. I serve with rice and salad. I could eat it every day! If I have my b choice left (or some spare syns) I add cashew nuts. Yum!

Cowboy Pie - 5% fat beef mince, baked beans, chopped tomatoes, any old veg. Cook together. Put in a dish and top with mashed potato (I use smash. I love smash). Add cheese for syns or a hexa. Pop in the oven to crisp up the mash. Serve with salad or more veg.

Garlic stuffed chicken wrapped in bacon. Slice a hole in a chicken breast. Mix together garlic and parsley with some quark. Stuff in the chicken hole. Trim the fat off some bacon. Wrap up the chicken in the bacon. Wrap the whole thing in foil and bake in the oven. So very good.

home made burgers. I make with the 5% beef mince, onions and black pepper. Smoosh together and form into a burger shape. Oven or shallow fry (fry light or syn the oil). Serve in a hexB bun. With SW chips. I like to put ketchup and mustard (synned), a slice of plastic cheese (synned) gherkins, salad and red onion.

Hi my name's Fran and I've been doing slimming world for about 8 weeks now. Found breakfasts were difficult as I kept using up all my A and B allowance in one go and struggled the rest of the day. Was talking with my friends and we decided to try some new ideas. If anyone's interested we compiled them in a blog post which we've just updated as we came up with some new recipes :)

There's a great recipe for chicken, ham and mushroom pies. We just make the filling and serve with loads of veg, don't bother with the 2 measly strips of pastry your allowed to lattice over the top.

Burgers are good, think they are called Big Daddy Burgers?

Also there is ratatouille pasta melt - this is my fave :) very cheesy!!

I use quark instead of creme fraiche. The kids love pasta with some peas chucked in and with smoked salmon bits of flake hit smoked salmon then quark stirred through. Depending on the saltiness of the fish it might need a bit of seasoning and or some grated cheese or parmesan chucked in.

I also love chicken and mushroom risotto. Either use parmean from allowance or laughing cow light triangles to give it added creamy cheesiness.

Both need added speed at the side to make it acceptable!

Ava - I second that KFC chicken recipe, it's lush!

We often make things that can be batch cooked (soups, stews, chilli etc) and freeze extra portions.

My favourite is burrito bowls: we serve all of these in individual bowls on the table so people can load up their bowls with what they want...

  • Rice (sometimes with chopped coriander and lime juice)
  • shredded lettuce
  • Asda Mexican chicken chunks
  • refried beans
  • homemade salsa (chopped tomatoes, red peppers and jalapeños with coriander, lime juice and some of the vinegar from the jalapeño jar)
  • sweetcorn
  • HexA cheese

So good!

My favourites are SW taco fries, beef rendang, cowboy pie, chilli, cauliflower and chick pea curry, seared scallops with minted pea puree, coq au vin, crustless quiches, devilled chicken drumsticks, devilled pork chops. chicken or lamb tagines, SW meatballs and burgers. I'm always trying new recipes so my favourites change.

ohmygodyouguys · 26/06/2016 14:51

My favourite is the Lancashire Hotpot, takes a while to make what with all the chopping up but it's so yummy.

pippinandtog · 28/06/2016 16:52

Slimming World "chip shop" curry sauce: tin of baked beans, tin of tomatoes and tin mushy peas, blended and heated through with 5 heaped teaspoons of medium curry powder.
(Best made out of sight of the people you are feeding)
