How many 'syns' do you eat a day?
9

So, I started slimming world a few days ago. Been unsure how many syns I shoukd be eating. Consultant said between 5-15. On my first day I ate 3.5 then two days of eating around 8/9 and today I've eaten 13.5.. Should I near the full amount if I am allowed to, or stick to the bare minimum?

Tonight I had a packet of Frazzles - 5.5 syns. Wish I didn't.

I have around 2.5 to 3 stone to lose.

Any tips?

Surely you aim for as little as possible? Frazzles aren't really something anyone should eat often let alone if your trying to loose weight

Slimming world is a lifestyle change rather than a diet if I cut back on my syns it causes me to binge, feel miserable and feel deprived. They are there if you need them you will still lose weight. I have some chocolate every day.

Anything from 2.5 (a Tassimo Cappuccino) to 30+ (on a flexible syns day). Sundays are a minimum of 20 (yorkshire puddings plus proper gravy plus a glass of wine with dinner). I'd say I average around 10 - 15 a day.

I've lost 1 1/2 stone in the last six months.

nothing wrong with Frazzles, says she about to tuck into a midnight snack of hula hoops

I aim for about 10 thinking that if I've underestimated something like milk for team and coffee it gives me some leeway. However yesterday I binged on chocolate so probably at least 50!!!

It varies daily for me, but I now make sure I have at least 5. I've found I actually lose more when I have at least 5 than I do if I have none! Don't deprive yourself. You have the syns, so use them if you want to and don't feel guilty about eating frazzles if you want to! I've lost 3 stones since April, so eating syns hasn't done me any harm.

I've been following the sw programme for a few weeks but I'm wondering if I'm eating too many Potatos. I snack on them sometimes. I know they're free but my weight loss seems to have stopped. ??

Frazzles are a great low syn choice you sound like you are doing it perfectly. Aim for an average of 10 to 12 syns a day then if you've miss counted or go over one day you have a few spare. If you need more for a night out you can have more and then less over the rest of the week. The recommendation is to have at least 5 on most days to stop it being a low calorie diet which in the long run won't work. Ignore anyone who tells you not to eat Frazzles or recommends lower syns as a way of losing more weight they don't understand how SW works.
Potatoes are Free Ramhar eat as many as you like just keep that magical 1/3 Speed if your weight losses have slowed down talk to your consultant/group next week about what it might be it definitely won't be potatoes.
I lost nearly four stone ten years ago have kept it off and now run sw groups you will receive some terrible advice on these boards and some fantastic advice pick and choose

Different amounts work for different people. I lose best when I have 8 or 9 a day, others when they have the full 15. that said I probably have the full 15 but just don't count them all

Eating your syns gives you important fat solvable vitamins and helps you feel like you're not depriving yourself which makes it more sustainable long term.

I've lost 3 and a half stone- only 7lbs to go so it works
