Hi there,

I really need and want to loose weight and slimming world seems to have the highest ratings.

I wont attend the meetings in my local area and the reviews about becoming a member online are awful.. As are the prices!

So i was wondering if anyone whi has done it/ is doing it..could pleaaaaaase explain to me how it works and what i have to do..

What i can eat
What i cant
How many syns am i allowed
What foods are syns
How often i should weigh myself

Would save me so much time and money and would rather hear it from someone i know it had worked for! Will be a great help!

Thank you so much in advance! xx

Why won't you attend the meetings? I have tried to do it myself and failed totally, but manage it no problem with the group support!

Probably not what you want to hear but what works is going and staying in group.

If you really don't want to do that you could go once and have the introduction and the book. That's £9.95 I think.

I've tried losing weight lots of times, but I really think part of why it working this time is staying to group. Staying to group has meant is 6 weeks I've lost 26lbs.

B: bran flakes and fruit

L: jacket potato and beans and salad or chicken pasta salad

D: spaghetti bolognese or meat and veg or fish with rice and veg

Fruit in between meals, sometimes the slimming world cereal bars (HiFi Rocky Road - yum!)

There are fab recipes available which mean my fussy other half and two kids (6 years and 2 years) eat without noticing half the time Grin

You can also attend any group you like. I regularly swap between a Monday and Tuesday group according to DH's work patterns.

I've lost four pounds in six months and although I put a pound on last week that was entirely my fault for not following the plan. Just need go get back on track!

And congrats on making the hardest decision - to commit to doing something

Just seen your questions. You are weighed in a room but it comes up on a tiny digital screen only you and the leader can see. They don't divulge your weight but as those pounds drop off they do say your weight loss.
Hope they helps

On an ordinary meeting you turn up and pay and hove your membership card (credit card sized) than you queue to get weighed. As I mentioned above no one sees your weight. Then it's recorded in a book and depending on what time it is you grab a seat til the meeting starts.
There's a stall where you can buy books and magazines and cereal bars but hold off until you've for your head around the plan itself.
The meeting starts with a helpful round up of new products and their points eg these crisps are now c points or there's a new squash by x company that's free and nice. Just general info. Then they go through people and ask them how their weeks been. I always stay for he first bit and usually have to leave half way thru the chats to get home but it is handy to stay as it's motivating to hear other peoples stuff, sometimes they can give you new ideas and sometimes you can help someone else out with a suggestion.

Hope that all makes sense

That's great. My consultant / leader put on Facebook that one of mags (think it was Woman?) has a voucher in there for free membership so it'll save you about a tenner.
Good luck x

Hi I have tried sw many times before as well as other well known diets ...The story is always the same- I start off really well but then lose motivation then the weight starts to go up & down. Another issue is once people know I am doing it I feel under pressure then the losses become gains. I end up feeling I am doing it for others not me. I find it impossible to do either sw or ww in early days without someone knowing as u h have to refer the books. Have said to a friend I am not going a class again & am too embarassed to go back knowing I have failed again. Sorry for long post.
