Rejoining. How many times until it clicked?

I rejoined SW last Friday for the fourth time in four years. I joined for the first time after my first DS was born lost about 10lbs before giving up. I re joined after having a miscarriage and lost about 10lbs again before I fell pregnant again and gave up. Then I joined again after having DS2 at the start of this year and gave up again around the 10lb mark!

I was just wondering how many times people have joined before it clicked and the plan really worked?

I know if I follow the plan it does work for me and I can loose the weigh but I don't know how to keep going. I really want it to work this time. Does anyone have any tips?

I've just got to the two stone marker and am suddenly aware of a big change in how I look and feel, still two stone to go though but that's what does it for me, seeing the change and also other people suddenly noticing that I've lost weight. Gives you such an incentive to keep going.

I take one day at a time and also promised myself when I joined SW (for the second time) that I would go to the meeting and stay every week, didn't matter if I'd had the most terrible of weeks and was lbs up, I'd still go.

So far, so good.

Only once for me, but I think that's because I'd tried lots of other things first and for me it was just so much easier to do than anything else...for me the key is that it's not a diet, it's a lifestyle change.

I know people who have hit target and stayed there after giving up 3 or 4 times though, sometimes it's about it clicking that it's not a short term temporary thing, sometimes it's just being the right time.

Hi, thanks for replying, some good advice. When I've joined before I've never really got stuck into the group and stayed every week. I think making a commitment to go every week and stay no matter what the result on the scales should help. I also think you are right about looking at it as a long term life style change. I always join thinking right if I loose x amount each week by x time i should be this weight rather than taking it day by day week by week. I had my first weigh in today, 3lbs off ??.

I asked the leader if I could join the social team.

I now take the money or do weigh in. Makes me stay and I've made some great supportive friends.

Have lost 38lbs since January.

Well done Calzone, that's a really good weight loss.

Joining the social team is a really good idea but unfortunately I won't be able to do that as I have my two young sons with me.

I think what is coming across though is weighting in and staying to class each week is what really helps.

I've bought a six week pass which will take me up until Christmas. I've made a promise to myself to go and stay every week even this week even though it falls on my sons birthday. I'm not even going to think beyond that for now.

I rejoined for the fourth time in March. Previously I had always given up after 2 or 3 months because something had some up - birthdays, Christmas ... Excuses! Really clicked with me this time, I go every week stay to class and get involved. I'm 45lbs down and 35lbs till target. Over half way there, that also gives me great motivation.

Well done Red Strawberry. Maybe fourth time will be the charm for me too ??. You sound just the same as me, I usually give up after a few months too usually after a holiday or birthday when I just can't face the scales. I normally say I'll take a few weeks off at home to loose the weight I've put on but never loose it or go back!
