Hi,

Just joined SW today. Any tips or good advice anyone can give to help me on my way would be great. I am really hoping to succeed in losing at least 3 stone to get me into a healthy weight.

TIA

Hello!

I hope the plan made sense to you. I found it difficult to trust it, as unlimited food boggled my mind a bit at first. But it does work!

Make sure you have plenty of free food you like in, and be prepared - it's a lot harder if you're trying to wing it.

Good luck! x

My advice would be to write everything down that you eat, check syn values before you eat something, and meal plan! I have been doing it since April and lost 18.2 kg so far. My best weeks have been when I meal plan. Whenever I get a little stuck, I go back to writing everything down and it tends to get me back on track.

Do ask on here if you aren't sure about anything!!

Thank you Oriana and Emma that's really helpful

If it doubt - put it in a soup! It's the best way I've found to shift the pounds.
And trust the plan even though it seems counter intuitive.
I've lost 2.5 stone since June. Got at least another 2 to go but people have just started to notice which is a nice feeling.

Thanks Flopls

Can any of you give me any tips on getting yummy roast potatoes using frylight? I've always used oil before.

Hi, I part boil my potatoes and spray a baking tray with Fry light. Drain potatoes after boiling for about 10 mins and then put on the baking try and then spray with Fry light again. Put them on the top shelf of a hot oven until then are done - turning once or twice whilst in the oven. Usually takes about half an hour in the oven. HTH

Check out YouTube and Instagram. Lots of inspirational people and recipe ideas to keep you motivated.

I've been on sw since January, losing slowly and have had a couple of months not completely on plan during that time. I had 2 stones to lose and I'm half way there. It works if you stay with it

TombStoneTessie · 31/10/2015 08:56

I've lost 2.5 stone since July and get loads of compliments now Smile
Definitely try to plan what you will have every day and don't overdo the syns. Lots of veg on your plate definitely helps to fill you up. Good luck

FlopIsMyParentingGuru · 31/10/2015 21:12

Yup. Agree with meal plan. I plan all evening meals and I come up with a selection of lunches I can choose from as the mood takes, and make sure I've got a selection of snacks available too.
I personally find planning to be the key

FlopIsMyParentingGuru · 31/10/2015 21:14

Oops posted early sorry.
Meant to add that I read somewhere that you're more likely to snack if you can see the snacks. So all treats are hidden away. And on the front of the cupboard with them in is a photo of me when slim. Extra motivation!

I leave my potatoes to really dry in the colander, I find it helps them crisp up. I prefer to use olive oil spray rather than fry light, you get 7 sprays for half a syn. When I cook, I cook for the who,e family and I don't really like the idea of everyone eating chemicals so use oil I usually find that 14sprays (1 syn) is plenty to do roastys for six of us.

Agree with others who say plan and write everything down. I meal p,an at the start of the week. I've lost just over 3 and a half stone.Smile

MisForMumNotMaid · 31/10/2015 21:47

As all others have said plan. I'd also add don't get hungry.

Don't skip a meal or have a small snack and then find yourself hungry later in the day surrounded by temptation.

Eat to satisfy your appetite.

Its not a diet its a long term sustainable way of eating if you absorb the ground rules. The ground rules include enjoying your food and really thinking and planning to have food that satisfies and interests you. Don't feel guilty for eating.

I lost about five stone last year - into this year. I now fluctuate a little more (up) than i ought around my target.

If crisps and chocolate are your thing then plan them into your week. If you're more of a drinker then check out the syns and plan in your drinks (one small word of caution on drinking is I find after a couple of glasses my control goes to pot and I stop counting syns. I find its best for me to generally stick to one large glass of wine, not from a syns point of view but from a control one). If you like everything well you get the chance to rotate your syns or go for smaller versions to have a selection.

One, off plan meal, getting the syns wrong, over indulgence is just that. Don't beat yourself up. Everyone over indulges sometimes. Whats important is to not let one meal out become a weekend off plan, a weekend off plan to be a week as an oh well may as well right this one off till next weigh in. Thats how a week of fluctuation thats probably a maintain/ on balance even a loss becomes a several pound gain.

Small regular losses add up. Don't ever fret its only half a pound all the losses add up and you really can do it.

stace1986 · 01/11/2015 17:21

Thanks all. That's all really helpful. We did our food shop today so all evening meals planned and I have enough for breakfast and lunches but can change around the days if I fancy something else from the list. Going to make myself some sweet potato crisps with fry light to satisfy the cravings and have my hifi bars as a choc fix so i am good to go. First weigh day on friday.

You sound raring to go, good on you.

I love a good crisp. Have you stumbled across the term tweak yet?

Even if you frylight and make your own crisps you need to syn them because they are using an ingredient in a way that its not been intended in the plan i.e. Using lasagne sheets to make tortilla crisps, dehydrating things like potato so you can eat lots without it filling you up.

There are a few packs that come in under 4 syns. Hoola hoop puffs are 3.5 syns, french frys i think are 4 syns.

stace1986 · 01/11/2015 21:26

Misfor, thanks for that, I assumed as it was sweet potato baked it would be ok so would have been miscounting my syns! Luckily I haven't made/scoffed any yet so will look into how syns that would be.
