Starting weight is wrong - can this be changed?

Hi all,

I joined SW in January and had my weight entered. I managed to lose 10.5lbs and everything was going well.

In March I was put into consultation at work and ended up putting the 10.5lbs back on as well as an additional 6lbs.

I've spoken to my consultant as since then I've managed to lose 1 stone 3lbs, but the problem I have is that my weight loss at the scales doesn't reflect this as my starting weight is different.

This means when I hit my stone I didn't get an award as my card didn't show me as having lost that much. My consultant gave me my stone award anyway and said she would speak with her area manager?

That was over a month ago and tbh my consultant hasn't been the best. Can anyone tell me if this can be done or not.

I feel it should be changed given that I stayed with the plan despite gaining all I'd lost an more.

I'm not sure what you want your consultant to do. Do you want them to reset it so that your heaviest weight was your "start" so your weight loss is reflected from that?

I'm not sure they can do that...

Yes. I'd like my heaviest weight to be the starting weight so it's a fair reflection of what I've lost.

Tbh I didn't think she could but to string someone along for a month is a bit much.

So is this accurate? Let's assume you were 12 stone (just a random guess to illustrate.)

January - 12 stone
Feb - 11 stone 3.5 lbs
March - 12 stone 6 lbs
October - 11 stone 3 lbs

They are saying you have lost the difference between today's weight and the starting weight, so 11 lbs.

Are you saying you've lost the difference between March's weight (when you were at your heaviest) and today's weight, so 1 stone 3 lbs?

What do you get for the award? Does it matter, I.e. What will you be losing out on if they don't change it? You know you've lost 1 stone 3lbs so I wouldn't worry too much what your card says.

Yes that's right ImperialBlether, I show at class as having lost 11lbs but I have actually lost 1 stone 3lbs.

I guess it doesn't matter in reality but I like to stay to class and it's demotivating when you hit your 1 stone and you're not being mentioned in class for it or given the certificate and sticker.

I only got the certificate and sticker because I asked several times for it, so I think my consultant was fed up listening to me

I suppose that's the way they do it, though. If someone lost a pound the first week and then put on 8 lbs, would you still say they'd lost a pound?

It's hard to keep yourself motivated. Could you take up an exercise routine to help you?

You didn't get a mention for losing a stone because,officially, you hadn't. The starting weight doesn't get adjusted for gains otherwise most people would be having their start weight up and down like a yo yo.

Ah ok. I guess like Two says it would be difficult to adjust starting weights because I imagine quite a lot of people put weight on at some point. Consultant should have just told you no though rather than stringing you along.

Yes I absolutely appreciate that people who gain would be up and down, but I thought it was something they could help with given I was all the way back to the start and more.

I've actually just spoken to another consultant who's group I'm going to move over to next week and she gave me the same answer you guys did inn20 minutes flat!
