Hi there, this is my first post so hope you might be able to help me!

When SW says something is free food, do they really mean you can eat as much as you want, unweighed and not counted? Just worried as seem to be eating tons of free food and having big dinners. Desperate to loose weight so really want this to work.

Many thanks

Yes, you are allowed to eat as much free food as you want. Ideally, you should make sure at least a 1/3 of your plate at every meal is free food and also look to free food to eat as snacks between meals.

I'm not sure how much you'd loose if you ate massive portions of pasta or potatoes everyday though, even though you are supposed to be able to if the pasta starts off dried.

The idea behind potatoes, rice, pasta etc being free is that you probably wouldn't need eat as much of these types of food before you are full and they will keep you fuller for longer.

There is a section on the website that explains the science behind it that is worth a read.

Hope that helps Smile

I'm new aswell Smile I couldn't understand how it would work either but in the First week I've had a huge weight loss. I know it'll slow down but it's showed me that i can trust this and go with it!

1/3 of your plate needs to be SUPERFREE food I thought?

NightOwl17 · 12/05/2015 22:19

Yes britishbakeoffblues is right. It is meant to be a 1/3 SP foods. Sorry about that.

I think a lot of people are doubtful at first as it seems so strange to be able to eat carbs without synning it but it definitely works for me. I've lost 1 stone 7.5lbs in 12 weeks which I'm very happy with.

It works because you can eat carbs OR fat and still lose weight. Slimming World focuses on carbs and it works for me - personally I find it easier to eat no fat than no carbs!
