I lost 2 stone a while ago on slimming world but messed up at christmas when I still had loads to lose and have now put all the weight back on.

I had DC2 4 weeks ago, so am feeling pretty rubbish. I'm going to join slimming world on thursday but I am massive. I'm 5ft 10 and weigh about 18 stone BlushSad

I'm about to set a wedding date and don't want to be unhappy and uncomfortable on my wedding day. I'm thinking august 2016, but could I lose 8 stone ish in that time on slimming world or is that impossible?! Don't want to do a crash diet because I need to change my eating habits anyway

groovychick I am impressed! I would love to achieve that weight loss in such a short time. You have motivated me to stick to the plan Smile

yougotafastcar I am also 5ft 10 & weighed in at 18st 10.5 lbs at my first meeting on Tuesday. I'm pretty sure I need to lose about half my body weight, but have made my first goal 15st. I would like to have achieved that by September. We can be weight loss buddies if you like?

To be honest with you...I don't think that's enough time, well it might be, but, I'd give yourself longer for a couple of reasons.

It's very sustainable over a long period of time, but, you'll have Christmas, birthdays, possibly holidays, nights out etc...even trying to stay on plan - you don't always lose with things like that, because it's not just one when you're aiming to lose a lot of weight, it's a really long time.

Personally I find it easier to be a bit more pragmatic about and accept that if it's one of the DC's birthdays I can try and allow syns for having cake, but it might not work out at the scales, and I refuse to eat out and just eat salads forever, lol...occasionally yes I'll pick something slimming world friendly, but sometimes I am just going to have something not so great because it's not just something I'm doing for a few weeks.

Also, the closer I get to target the slower I lose.

So it's taken me about 18 months to lose 7 stones with 1 stone to go.

I've lost 5 stone in 10 months. I went on a couple of holidays, had a big birthday, various family events and Christmas in that time.

1/2 stone a month or averaging 1.5lb roughly every week. Not that it falls of in that linear way.

So i make it 16 months from now to August 16 so you'd need an average of 1/2 stone/ month too. The first bits tend to be faster than down the line.

The thing is if you lose three, four five or even six stone in that time you'll no doubt be far happier with yourself than now.

Just make a start, don't forget to live and enjoy life now and let time do the rest.

Thanks all Smile you've all done so well.

Can't decide what to do, if I leave it until 2017 I will probably keep putting it off and end up with the same amount of time anyway!

I'm the world's best procrastinator...so yeah a deadline might help, lol.

It's just that I'm thinking - I'm currently averaging a pound a week, it's still coming off and that's all good, but, if I had set myself a deadline of today where I'm still a stone away, I'd feel like I had failed and tbh, probably completely fall off the wagon. Even though I've lost loads and I feel better for it and I'm officially within a healthy weight range...I'd feel shit about myself for 'failing'.

I'd do what you need to do to feel better about yourself and then sort out the wedding afterwards, or at least leave it until you're underway.

But if you think the deadline would be positive and it wouldn't bother you if you hadn't quite reached your target - it is possible to lose that weight in that time.

What about joining now. Set yourself a target of say 2 stone and you can book the wedding day when you get that target. Then lose more you can book x y or z etc.

Good luck
