Confused about blending fruit/smoothies

So I'm an online member and I've read a few times that blended fruit isn't free - if so can anyone explain why this is?
I really like to make green breakfast smoothies with spinach, a frozen banana and maybe some other veggies like carrot but can't understand what blending the banana does to it to make it not free anymore...

It was explained to me that its because you can drink an awful lot more than you can eat - think of the pile of banana, spinach etc and eating it compared to blending then drinking it

I think it's because when you make a smoothy, you strain the bits out, so all the fibre etc is gone, you're just left with the sugar. So... making a juice where you don't strain and drink the fibre is still free?
I'm no expert, that's just my understanding. Very willing to admit I'm wrong on this one.

Its to do with the way the body absorbs/ digests i think. If its pureed its digested quickly so less long term satisfaction than if the body needs to work at releasing the sugars and breaking it down. If you're no longer satisfied you may reach for something else.

Have you tried a yogurt or quark, some sort of essence i.e. Vanilla and sweetner as an alternative to the banana in this blend?

Thanks! Think I am a bit closer to understanding now but still grumpy about my banana Grin
Yoghurt or quark is a good idea, will do some experimenting!
