slimming world newbie - eating out question

I signed up to slimming world online earlier today, and finding the website a bit difficult to navigate. I've been looking up some syn values and something is confusing me.
Next week I'm hoping to go to wagamama for lunch. looking at the free foods it seems like a really good choice, but when i look at the syn values, lots of the meals are upwards of 16 syns. Why is this when they are so similar to meals you would cook from lean meats and fish with veg? Am I being clueless? Is it just the oil used?
Advice gratefully received.

Sorry can't help with waga mama but Nandos is good for eating out on SW. 1/4 chicken breast (3syns), rice (2syns) and salad or sweet corn are free. You can have a meal out for 5 syns (extra 1 syn per tbsp sauce).

Its oil flavoured sauces or any thickening used. You have to bear in mind sw advocates fresh foods, but some chains are premade to a certain extent.

Thank you both. Seems quite tricky to eat out then. Not that I do often. May swap wagamama for nandos!

Don't change where your going because of sw. You will always come up against something in life. Plan your day so you only eat free foods & plenty of speed, keep your hexb incase you want bread and just pick wisely. Enjoy!
