Are you supposed to be full all the time on SW?

I've been on SW for 2 weeks.WI number 2 tonight. The first week I ate well, in the proportions recommended by the plan but felt uncomfortably full, bloated and colicky quite a bit. BUT I lost 4.5lbs!!!
I dialled back on the plan this week as I hate feeling bloated - but still stuck to the plan almost 100% ( slight confusion about Healthy Extras so had 2 HexBs most days by mistake) anyway, I have felt great, much more comfortable but a little hungry ( not badly) at least 50% veg, lean meats, fish but less carbs as pasta etc bloats me. Was well within my syns for the week - less than 5 syns per day 4/7 days.... And I "only" lost 1/2 pound!!!

I'm not complaining, I like this way of eating and happy once weight is going down. But I'm wondering if I am doing this wrong and need to eat more?? 1/2 lb a week will do my head in tbh!!!

If I eat the portion size in the recipes I feel bloated and full. When I eat what I consider a portion I do feel a little hungry and with less carbs too.
I'm ready to eat now, I had 1 slice proper bacon 2 eggs scrambled and 1 small toast @ 7.30.
Depending on what you want to weigh, take the ½lb and see over a month. My weight goes up and down and losses are slow. I will be 11-7 buy June 30th.
If your doing sp and not eating the carbs you can have 2 hex B choices. I do this 4 days and am happy with 5lb in 3 weeks

Thanks, I know - I am impatient! I have bought a 6 week challenge so have decided to see it through then divide by 6 rather than get hung up week by week! Going shopping in the morning and have made a list of all Speed fruit & veg. I am having some carbs- SW chips and planning some rice & couscous dishes during the week. It's interesting ive seen many people comment oh here that they get v bloated on carbs - I thought it was only me Blush
I've about 20lbs to lose - 5 gone already so I am pleased but want to make sure I'm doing it right! I don't want to make it longer/ harder than I need it to be. Grin

We have about the same to go. 20lb would take me to my lowest sustainable weight, 11-7 is a not to skinny number for my build.
I'm on 6 WK countdown too, that'll take me to 6 nations rugby and weekends will be a nightmare then.WineWineWine

Imscarlet · 22/01/2015 22:44

What is a 6 week challenge? I haven't come across that yet!

springlenner · 22/01/2015 23:37

On the day I joined I paid for 6 weeks up front ( got one week free in that) - maybe it's not really a thing but the lovely lady who checks us in every week always says " you're on week 1/2/3 of your six week challenge " [ grin]

There's a promotion in Feb that if you buy a 12 week countdown you get a free recipe book. Saw the book in group last week and it looks good, it's more 'comfort food' I would say, steak and kidney pie, cauliflower cheese, colcannon etc. for a 12 week countdown you pay for ten weeks and get two free.

I hate being hungry, so I do eat large portions. Larger than SW suggest in most cases. I get good losses, but it's unrealistic to expect a big loads every single week and I have had weeks where I've lost half or a pound. Equally I've had weeks where I've lost 5 or 7lb. I lost 2 stone in 3 months when I first started last year and rejoined in jan and lost 7lb in my first two weeks. (4lb then 3lb) I have to eat carbs for medical reasons though and any do SP, but they don't make me feel bloated.

springlenner · 23/01/2015 15:07

Thanks midori.. I'm well aware that I am reading too much into 2 weeks on SW and need to be realistic Grin .. just back from grocery shopping and house is full of speed foods so no excuses!
I hate feeling full and in itself don't mind feeling hungry - it's the choices that I make when I'm hungry are the problem.

Spring - correct me if I'm wrong Hun but you have said most days you have under your syns? The way I was lead to believe is HEA is for you calcium and HEB is you fibre both of these you can get in small amounts in other foods so are optional however I was told 5 syns a day is a min - maybe this is where you could make up the difference - but then again what do I know only lost 1.5 lb this week lol xx

springlenner · 27/01/2015 23:51

Hmmm... Thanks Crystal - yes, I've been under my syns most days - but over the week it's averaged 10/day ( I know you're prob not supposed to save them up)
This week I've stayed on plan for all but one meal ( roast duck with orange sauce - full fat- yum - but with 1/2 plate speed veg) I've really upped my speed foods this week as I hadn't really twigged the 1/3 speed food rule.
WI is tomorrow night so time will tell.....

To be completely honest normall I only lose half a pound have a stone and half to lose in total but this week I made sure I drank plenty of free fluids that's the only change and I lost 1lb more than normal maybe that's something you could look at are you drinking the recomand 8 pints aday?
Have you handed a food diary into you consultant they can offer some great advice I only really have my own personal experience although duck in orange sauce hmmmm wonder how much exercise is needed to count that sounds so yummy lol xxx

springlenner · 28/01/2015 22:42

Thanks crystal..well I lost 2lbs this week and go my 1/2 stone award! Yay! I'd be happy with a pound a week from now on - I psychologically needed to break that barrier I think.... I did up my water intake this week too- I used to always drink tons of water but moved recently and don't really like the tap water here. On the days I've been home this week I've filled a huge jug in the morning and added ice, cucumber and lime - really nice and been drinking loads. Just gotta keep focused

Well done maybe you should give me advice losing 2lbs in one week xx

HollyBollyBooBoo · 29/01/2015 20:42

Can I ask a really stupid question about the '1/3 of your plate to have speed food' rule? So if you had spag Bol and it was choc full of veg, you wouldn't really have to have a salad or roasted tomatoes on 1/3 of your plate would you??

crystal85 · 29/01/2015 21:24

Well not if you are sure that 1/3 of your plate has super free food to be on the safe side I always put broccoli or something so I know xx

springlenner · 29/01/2015 22:24

I had spag Bol this week. DH doesn't like it bulked out so I just made it with 5% fat mince / tomato purée / passata / mixed herbs - DH and kids had with spaghetti and I had it with 1/3 plate salad and 1/3 plate of cauliflower rice which I mixed in with the sauce. It was fine- not wonderful but tasty enough and filling. Grand for a midweek dinner- but not sensational.

Crystal. I ran 4/5k three times this week too. Probably tipped the scales I think. Totally lost motivation tonite tho- all I want is wine and mini cheddars.LOL!!

OP posts:
springlenner · 29/01/2015 22:32

Holly. I didn't answer your question, I am fairly new to this so I dont really know. All I know is that this week - my third week- I made sure that I did add 1/3 speed for every meal on the side ( salad, veg or fruit after) and upped my exercise and increased my loss.
I can't see myself sticking to that for the long term though.

crystal85 · 29/01/2015 23:02

Ooo I couldn't manage that spring - only recently started back any excerise I have blood clots in both legs while pregnant plus bad back from previous car accident then emergency c section - so now gorjus son is nearly 7 months though I best start again - every one say 9 months to gain 9 months to lose only gives me 2 months now lol xx

Starlightbright1 · 29/01/2015 23:10

Can I just ask if you have syned your extra HEB....

MrsLindor · 30/01/2015 16:22

Just to add that healthy extras aren't optional, they're one step in a three step plan;

Health Extras
Free Food
Syns.

The three steps together make it a health balanced diet.

crystal85 · 30/01/2015 20:52

Well when I told my consultant I was having problems have HE every day she said that you don't have to have them just make sure the free foods your have have the c symbols etc next to them - and since then I have lost weigh - so I'm going by what she told me
therefore they are optional

springlenner · 01/02/2015 23:25

Crystal, sounds like you've had a rough time of it. It takes time - I'm only getting round to losing the baby weight now and my baby is ... ahem... nearly five! He's in school LOL!
My consultant also told me not to worry too much about the HexAs/Bs - nice to have but not essential. The most important is the 1/3 super free.
I've been hopeless all weekend unless I get my act together I'd say I've put back on the 2lbs from last week. Weekends are hard esp in this weather when you're stuck in the house. New day tomorrow!

bloated1977 · 01/02/2015 23:41

You do need your HEA and HEB. You need to make sure you are having enough fibre and calcium. Checked with my consultant and that's definitely the case. My group have had great losses over the past year. 2 ladies that have lost 13 stone and 9 stone and 2 others on 8 stone!

Imscarlet · 02/02/2015 10:31

In our group, 2 people tried the super fast plan. One lost 6lbs in a week, the other lost .5lb. They were discussing it and put it down to the fact that one had the HEB's and the other one didn't. I'm sure there are people who can't have bread who still manage the plan. I think that once it isn't affecting your weight loss, go for it. You will get plenty of fibre from all the veg if you are doing it right.

crystal85 · 02/02/2015 12:32

I attend a award winning group due to weight loss plus one women has SW slimmer of the year so I'm not worried about the advice I've been given if others have made it work so fantasticly
It was that time of month this weekend and I had 50% of code for dominos but I was a good girl very tough. Is everyone hopeful for this weeks weigh in? Xx
